DDH Citra + Galaxy - Other Half
IIPA - 8.5% abv
Canned 6/28/18 (24 days ago)

L - 2.5 finger medium-density offwhite head atop an opaque, milky orange body.

S - grapefruit, strong herb, pineapple, melon, pine.

T - grapefruit and pineapple dominate the taste. A bit of mango, papaya. Very tropical mix of fruit flavors here. The herbalness from the nose does not translate at all to the flavor of the beer. Dirty middle - reminds me of a Veil DIPA in that regard. Dirtiness lingers into the finish. Moderate bitterness. No sweetness. Low booziness.

F - medium body with slightly above average carb. Not quite as creamy as most OH brews.

O - I really enjoy these 2-hop combo beers that are OH’s specialty. This one loses points on body and the dirty, lingering taste, but it’s still a quality brew.

L - you know how I know there's Galaxy hops in here? This shit pours a milky banana yellow. It doesn't even look like beer! Looks like frozen pineapple juice.

S - smells like pineapple. Shocker. Peach cream sweetness and clementines. On the very end there's an orange rind zestiness.

T - orange creamsicle punch up front and then a wildly earthy and fresh stringy pineapple. Tastes like the real deal. Vague brown sugar sweetness and some tart lemon lime. Once the juice subsides, you realize there may in fact be hops in this beer. Lip tingling bitterness that numbs the tongue. Finishes moist and with minimal aftertaste.

F - creamy but not too heavy. Silky. Low carbonation and almost feels like it's floating off and away from my tongue.

O - these might just be two of the best hops. Or at least the most versatile. Mosaic is OH's best hop but these two make a hell of a combination. Galaxy dominates, but the citra adds the rindy bite it needs to satisfy.

Pours cloudy gold color that looks like pineapple juice with the typical 1-2 finger foamy off white head that leaves good spotty lacing. Smells and tastes like pineapple, grapefruit, lemon, lime, tangerine and orange peel, followed by floral notes, coriander, peppery spices and piney notes. The malt backbone is sturdy with graham cracker, toasted grains, biscuit and light caramel. Another really tasty OH beer which doesn't seem dry hopped since it was very juicy and flavorful.

Picked this up when it was released at the brewery, as the date on the bottom of the can was 10/18 with "TIME TO FIST BUMP" under it. I enjoyed the regular version of this but of course, this double dry-hopped take was smoother, juicier, and just that much more enjoyable! I'm not sure if these are the two best hops out there, but it's easy to see why they're so easy to quaff after forcing myself to take my time savoring this!

Nice pour to this as the beer look like pure orange juice but topped with a solid head and wondrous, soapy lacing down the back side of my Teku glass. Plenty of orange, melon, dank hops, cantaloupe, stone fruit rind, and hints of chalk in the taste (probably from the powder), all in an even split between the Citra and Galaxy. Sweet and slick, this could have used a few more bubbles, but that was my only issue with this beer.

The juice aspect was reflected in the amount of apparent booze, as I couldn't even taste any of it. It's there, but was only felt once I (quickly) polished this off. Beers like this serve as further proof that Other Half needs to just double dry hop everything they've done, from here on out!

Typical OH tall can...10-18-17....a month in the can

Typical NE style IPA pour, turbid and leaves great looking super fine bubble lacing.

Melon, ripe pineapple, on the luscious nose.

Simply delicious stuff....more tropicals, with again pineapple, melon, and a hint of ripe green apples....

Super smooth and easy drinking....8.5% nowhere to be found...go get some/go trade for some...

Super juicy after 2 weeks in the can. Tons of aroma, this one is actually turning out to be the best one of the release. My only qualms are that it is under-carbonated and thus needs an aggressive pour to yield a one finger sized head. Other than that this is a superb beer. Lot of stone fruit and a big punch of peach all over the flavor, very light and quaffable, though a bit stale from the aforementioned lack of carbonation.

Massive thank you to my man Robbie for tossing me the goandpickitupformebro can to tick. Pours total murky juice. Yep, nose is citra and galaxy, side by side leaning towards galaxy. Thick and lush. Taste is full bodied and represents both hops really well with a lab to galaxy. Solid brew.

Medium-gold, juicy-looking beer under a fat head of foam... Plenty of citrus on the nose - primarily orange and grapefruit, which is pretty common... Followed up with a body of similar citrusy notes, smooth and soft, medium-weight... Carbonation is ample, bitterness mild, sweetness the same... a nice vehicle for two favorite hops, New England-style... 10/18/17 canning...

L - light yellow, opaque, white two finger head fades only slowly

S - dank, sweet, wild grape, super pungent

T - more green wild grape, sharp, medium minus sweetness, medium minus bitterness, super tropical, pineapple, mild finish

F - small creamy bubbles, medium carbonation and thickness

O - honestly one of my favorites from OH ever, maybe better than the excellent and vaguely similar Mylar Bags
