June 1833, Perth, ON. Canada’s last fatal duel was fought over an insult to a young lady. The winner got the girl. Harkening back to this town’s bold traditions of chivalry and honour, this is one refreshing lager that stands tall and shoots straight.

Too sweet for me. Comes off like apple cider. Lots of apple and fruity undertones.

Pale straw yellow under a moderate, short lived head, no lace. Joe is corn a whiff of straw, so.e sweetness..Grass and corn to taste, sweet underneath. Noticeable bite from carbonation. Common middling stuff but better than a macro.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Apr 3 2020, listed at 4.5% and served well chilled. 'Raise pints, not pistols' - I'll cheers to that.
Pours clear straw yellow with some chill haze; half a finger of frothy white head disintegrates within sixty seconds, replaced with a tight collar and a few patches of film. No lacing at first, though you get some as the level drops - not much to look at, and the nose is no more impressive. I'm getting apples, doughy malts and lemon, with just a hint of hay.
Its flavour profile is along the same lines - bready, doughy malt sweetness serves as the backdrop, with light green apple as well as subtler hints of white grape and lemon. It concludes with hints of sourdough and graininess, as well as a touch of lemon zest. Light in body, with lively carbonation that feels prickly on the palate, giving this lager a crisp, highly refreshing mouthfeel that urges you to take another sip. The glass was gone before I knew it.
Last Duel is alright, but that's about all the praise I can muster. I've been rating mostly pale lagers lately, and I'm disappointed to say that this ranks as one of the lamest so far - the apple flavour in particular is a bit too much for me, and the profile has a thin malt flavour with almost no hop character. I think I might give this one a do-over because of its age - I'll look out for a fresh can this week and possibly update this review.

Another tallboy, this one dated May 26 2020. I said I'd give this another shot, so here I am. Unfortunately, everything I said last time still applies. This isn't an awful lager, as it's easy enough to knock back, but it does have too much fruitiness for me to consider it a good example of the style. Tick it if you've got the time, but keep your expectations in check.
Final Grade: 3.28, a C+.

Standard lager, cool story! Bit sweet but overall crisp and tasty. Paired with fish tacos!

Appearance: Clear, brass yellow body with two fingers of head that did retain well but produced no lace.
Smell: Sweet corn with a hint of straw and grassy hops. Warming doesn't really help it's case out. Nothing wrong, but smells like a generic lager.
Taste: Sweet mild straw malt starts us off as is then turns to a sweet corn taste with maybe a slight hint of earthy hops. It's generic lager, but honestly a bit too sweet for my liking.
Mouthfeel: Transistioning is good, the carbonation helps out the entire beer, but almost to it's detriment as it's frothy and soapy almost and accents to sweetness even more. Still, decent head and an aftertaste that disappears wins back some ground.
Drinkabiliity: In my youth I would have craved for a lager like this, but that time has long since past. It's refreshing and smooth but it's too sweet and lacking any kind of crispness too it. It is easy on the system though.
Final Thoughts: An alternative to big name lager that tastes brewed for kids just starting to drink beer. Apart from it's sweetness, it doesn't do anything wrong. Plastic and metallic taste simply isn't there. That said, it is a rare beer that has me wishing for more hops. This brewery has much more interesting options, so if you do visit Perth, I would recommend making a different selection.
