Have to go back to May 2016 for notes on this bottle. I wrote at the time it was an "average pilsner." I was exploring a lot of pilsners back then and really didn't find many that made me want to reduce IPA consumption -- though I was looking to reduce abv per drink a bit. Basically learned that I much prefer Dunkel to pilsner.

Poured from 12oz bottle into dimpled mug. Enjoy by date is April of 2017.

L: Very clear straw yellow, with finger width white head that doesn't have great retention. Decent lacing left behind by the ring of bubbles.

S: Herbal and pine hops, good strong malt backbone of lightly toasted biscuits. Clean.

T: Hop oils are strong, lots of herbal and a hint of pine. Again a strong malt backbone of crackers and biscuits. Clean flavor.

F: Light body, super crisp and an easy drinker for sure.

O: Really a stellar aroma and taste, home run by Sam Adams here.

Bottled December 2016; poured from a 12oz bottle into my Harriet pilsner glass.

Brilliantly clear pale Stil de grain yellow body with a large stand of off-white foam. Rocky lacing, superior retention.

Base malt, faintly herbal/grassy hop notes, and not much else in the nose. Clean, but unremarkable.

Malty palate entry, with faint toast and bread notes along with a distinctive spring barley character. Moderate bitterness - clean and dry with barely appreciable flavor contributions from the hops. Vaguely grainy at times, though not in a bad way. Faint floral notes emerge as the beer warms a bit.

Crisp, well carbonated, and refreshing.

The Mandarina hops are so restrained in this expression that they may as well not be here at all - not a bad version of the style, but decidedly inferior to Noble Pils (a beer I haven't seen on the shelves around here since it stopped being a seasonal offering).

Clear yellow colored beer with a medium sized snow white head.

Smells of pilsner malt and hay. Scent of saffron and and grass. Slight scent of lemon.

Starts out mildly sweet and grassy with a little caramel taste. Mild bitterness, enough to notice by by no means it is bitter. Nobel hop is decidedly grassy.

Mouthfeel is on the high carbonated side and is a bit light.

Overall this is a clean tasting mild lager, something that is completely accessible for a macrobrew fan.

Poured into a fluted pilsener glass.

Look: Clear golden color, thick off-white head. Light soapy lacing.

Aroma: Lightly toasted grains, buttered bread, lemongrass.

Taste: Bready and lightly toasted grains up front, bright lemongrass and bitter hops in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium to light, dry.

Overall: Drinking this outside on a 100 degree day, it does the trick. I think a few is enough, not something I would session.

A flavorful pilsner that is very refreshing for a summer day. Very light, but not too light, that tastes like some herbs and it finishes with a little bit of a hoppy taste. Great for a hot summer day.

First time in cans, from a 12 pack bought for visiting relatives who are fans of Sam's brews

a: Clear gold with an inch and a half white head which receded to thick to thin surface foam and dense to spotty lacing.

s; Grain

t; Mild light fruit notes quickly vanish, bready malt persists. Dry finish with a light bready malt aftertaste.

m: Medium, very good body and some carbonation tingle.

o: A relatively meaty pilsner, substantial for the style but still refreshing. Sessionable, especially in warm weather.

Pours clear golden yellow with a frothy white foam head. Smells like sweet malt, orange citrus, honey, biscuits, lemon, mild spice, with dank earthy floral herby grass and pine. Tastes like honey biscuit malts, some orange citrus, sweet cracker, mild spice, with floral dank herbs and earthy grassy pine. Feels medium-light bodied, creamy with moderate low carbonation. Overall a real nice fruity hoppy citrusy pilsner.

Pours to a thick permanent head and generous lacing. Hazy gold. Aroma is grassy spicy and grainy. Flavor is clean malts and grassy earthy hops. Mouth feel is ok. The sample I had was a month out of date so it may not be accurate to the brewer's intention.

Beautiful golden color. Kind of hazy against the sunlight. Has a strong citrus aroma. This beer provides a nice hoppy bite with a bitter sweet finish. The mouthfeel is thin but smooth. Overall, I like the offering. A mild German style pilner that is not over-the-top.

Poured less than clear Light golden yellow with a decent white head that also showed some decent side glass lace and above average retention.
Aroma: herb al hops, foreign or chemical like odder.
Taste: thin, clean neither sweet or bitter. Nothing distinctive, except it is a Pilsner with some level of hops.

12 oz. bottle poured into nonic
(enjoy before June 2016 notched on label)

L: clear gold, 1-inch head of white foam, some sticking; color is yellow-gold (5 SRM); laces some on the way down

S: fruity, apricot, peach ... sour grain ... sweet bread malt

T: mix of earthy bitter bite and sweet fruit, peach ... almost English pale ale-like fruity ... very earthy up front, almost bitter, tastes like dirt, then sweetens on back end

F: plenty of carbonation, comes off a bit ale soft at times but overall its fine

O: not bad and I'd like to try some a bit fresher ... my 6-pack is right up against the best-by date, and I'll check that closer next time ... and I think there will be a next time; has a lot of authentic malty sweet fruit flavor, very much like an imported Helles or Dortmunder

It poured a pure, light yellow with a small but fuzzy and creamy head. It smelt sweet, and grassy. It tasted lightly hoppy, and grassy. What fruit taste there was, was kind of generic or indiscernable. The body was very light and refreshing. I imagine this is what a good, light, refreshing Pilsner should taste like. I would definitely recommend this to someone who wants a light, barely hoppy, easy drinking beer.

Appearance: Clean light yellow color with fluffy white head and some lacing.

Aroma: Nice note of floral perfumed hops with some underlying mild malt. Hops are the thing here which sing in a clear tone.

Taste: Mild malt carry the melody with hops singing notes. Pleasant, refreshing flavor that finishes quick with very little hop aftertaste.

Texture: Is mild to medium depending on your take, for me it's mild.

Overall: A very nice addition to the stable. Not a racing breed, more of a workhorse.

Pours a very clear deep straw producing 2+ fingers of foamy, somewhat lasting, brilliant white head that leaves minimal splotchy lace. Aroma is pilsner yeast, cracker & biscuit, grassy, herbal, lemon & a hint of honey. Taste is similar but more robust especially in the Pilsner yeast & breadiness with fruity hints & a trace of mineral in the finish & nicely bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with excellent carbonation, prickly & slightly drawing in the aftertaste. Though not a Czech Pilsner I share a similar sentiment with BrownAleBollocks: Good but a slightly disappointing replacement for Noble Pils.

Best by July 2016.

A: Slightly darker than the BMC Ample carbonation with large bubbles rushing to the head. Finger or so of bleached white head. Rapid dissipation. Fades to a small cap, with moderate lacing on the glass.

S: Orange, grassy, slightly herbal. Malt is fairly well represented, with a borderline biscuit overtone.

T: Hops are faded. Has that expired IPA flavor. Orange, some grass and graininess Bitterness picks up down palate, with a distinctive old world herbal/grassy hoppiness. Dry finish.

M: Crisp, clean. Good carbonation on the tongue.

O: This was mediocre bordering on bad due to the oxidized taste of the hops. Would try again were it fresher.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass, pale straw yellow. Smell citrus, hops, malt.

Taste is actually smoother than anticipated. Initial harsh taste hoppy, some citrus but a smooth backend.

Not my favorite style or beer but this is solid and a decent flavor beer

I bought this beer in the singles section of my local wegmans and it is out of date. best by february of this year. Pours hazy and very pale. yellow not gold or golden. This beer is using Samuel Adams two-row pale malt blend, German Pilsner Malt. The nose is light on hops but they still meet the style. I am pretty sure the haze was from dry hopping as the spice character of the hops I know they are using is way too light for the nose. Malt is breaddy and golden to the nose. hops are herbal and would have had a brihgt spice character but now they really just show the shadow of it. No diacetyl, light dms, and no fruity esters form yeast. no caramel. As far as tasting error are concerned hops seem to display a sticky resin like quality no matter what type of beer they are used in that has a kind of sweetness to it that is not caramel. Taste is good. Breaddy and golden with hops struggling to show you any herbal. Floral remains on the palate and only a trace of spice. Finishes crisp, clean with a small bite form bubble, light dms and plenty of breaddy malt. Moderate bitterness lingers to show you not as much golden flavor in the aftertaste so that is different from using the true pils malt exclusively and no hops to linger at all. That is how you can see the difference between the blended malt bill and one that is authentic.

Had this poured into a pilsner glass. Color was a golden-yellow, cloudier than I would have expected. Taste and aroma were better than i would have expected, bolder than I the name would suggest. Excellent blend of hops and malt while remaining crisp. Mouthfeel was a bit harsher than Id like, but still good. Underrated.

Fairly clear, decent, but not overpowering smell, smooth going down and a fairntaste, nothing special. Bavarian hops are certainly present, but I expected more from this beer.

Crystal clear, light gold yellow. Bubby with a soapy white head.

Smells like a pilsner. Pretty skunky. Some citrus and floral hops, faint malts.

Decent amount of lemon citrus flavor and some crisp bite. Floral/grassy and a decent amount of fruity sweetness. I thought it smelled a little better than it tasted and the body may have been a tad to slick, but a solid beer overall.

Pours a crystal clear straw color with a two finger white head. Aroma is classic pilsner with bready malt, floral, herbal, and grassy. Taste follows with bready malt, cracker, grass, floral, and some light spicy, fruity hops. Mouthfeel is thin to medium and well carbonated like a good pils. Overall, this is a decent pilsner that checks most boxes in the style but stays a bit restrained. I prefer noble pils, but this is a good second for SA.
