Notes: One of our original "hazy" double IPA's that's constantly tweaked to draw out as much juice-like character as possible, utilizing the interactions of hops & expressive yeast. Leading with Mosaic & Citra for a tropical onslaught in the nose & palate, bitterness is restrained with a heavenly mouthfeel from the addition of malted & flaked oats.

Sweet tropical, yeasty, dank hoppiness on the nose on this one! Taste follows with a yeasty kick of bitterness and a hint of sweetness on the swallow. The depth is darn near perfect and it gets creamier and smoother as it warms a bit. Well-balanced DIPA with such a soft/smooth swallow! Fantastic!

Can poured into a Russian River Brewing Co pub glass

A: Pours quite hazy golden orange amber, not unlike a glass of OJ, with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and laces nicely.

S: Plenty of ripe tropical fruit and citrus, a touch of pine, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Ripe tropical fruit and citrus, orange, mango, passion fruit, nectarine, guava, lemon, grapefruit, lime, and a hint of pineapple, a touch of pine, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, soft on the palate, holds its % quite well.

O: Alvarado showing that they are a notch above a lot of breweries out there.

On tap -pours a murky turbid yellow with white head leaving minor lacing.Looks like unfiltered citrus juice. Nose is all big and citrusy. Taste follows with a hint of hoppy bitterness. Finish is smooth and easy.

Bright orange beer. Slightly off white head that leaves a few big bands of lacing. Smells like fresh oranges and grapefruit with some piney hops. Tastes sweet but the bitterness balances this perfectly. Lots of orange and grapefruit with a bit of pineapple. Nice pithy and piney bitterness.

Pours a hazy, murky, cloudy golden color. The head is white, 1 finger, frothy, with decent retention.
The nose is what is expected - pineapple is really strong in the nose. Really strong.
Taste - Very smooth. Pineapple is the citrus flavor. Minimal, to no alcohol burn, even though it's an 8%+ beer.
Smooth feel, full bodied. Hops linger in my throat, and there's no alcohol burn.
Solid easy drinking DIPA - maybe, almost too easy to drink. Really delicious.

This pours a slightly murky off-orange. Haze came across from a hearty stream of yeast as I poured from the can. I get a super tart aroma, like a juicy orange squeezed out, but not the sort of big aroma burst I'd expect. Tastes juicy and sweet, with an underlying acidic/tartness to it. Not as carbonated as I'd have liked. I'm going to be the contrarian here and say that I'm underwhelmed and then some by this. Will revisit.

Sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2018, Green Session. Aroma is citrusy, zesty, fresh and floral. Taste is bitter with citrus rind flavor, dry and a bit astringent.

Canned 4/6/18.
Look: Dark yellow in color. Very cloudy and hazy. Looks just like orange juice in a class. 1& 1/2 fingers worth of head with moderate lacing.
Smell: Full of orange, tangerine, grapefruit and lemon. Great smelling. Hops compile a lemongrass/florally like smell.
Taste: Follows the nose. Citrus fruit forward, with a slight emphasis on the lemon. It sounds strange, but I also get a coconut similar taste. Very tasty.
Feel: Medium in body and weight. Low carbonation, giving the beer a soft feel. Does have bitter notes to the feel.
Overall: This is very tasty. It is full of fruit flavor with a nice hop presence. I am really enjoying it. I am grateful to have tried. Cheers!

Canned 4/6/18, consumed 4/18/18

L: Hazy, but just so, orange honey colored, small head, very little lacing.

A: Very bright, inviting mix of tropical and stone fruits.

T: Spectacular, amazingly zesty, full, awesome burst of fruit hoppiness. Not sure how a DIPA could be better.

F: Just great here as well, medium, not heavy, ridiculous how well the alcohol is masked, smooth, creamy, totally restrained and easy bitterness.

O: Absolutely and very easily one of the best DIPAs I've ever tasted. Everything I've had from ASB has been top quality, and this one stands on top.

Thanks to eyebereej for sending this one! Reviewed from (long-standing) notes. Poured from a 16 oz. can into an El Catador teku glass.

A: Very hazy orangish gold. A good amount of visible carbonation and a finger's worth of white head.

S: Tropical fruits – mango and papaya mostly. Then melons, citrus, and pineapple with lesser dank notes. Oats and pale malts. Really nice aroma.

T: Very juicy – a tropical fruit mishmash, oranges and grapefruits, with melons, mango, papaya, and pineapple. Pale malts, oats, with a touch of whole wheat cracker. Modest dankness, as more melon and tropical fruit bitterness takes us through the hang.

M: A medium body for today’s IPAs – probably a little heavier than average. Average carbonation sensation. The alcohol is more noticeable than expected but not obnoxious.

O: Really, really good. I’m quite impressed by this one. A good New England IPA from a West Coast brewery. I don't really get much Brettanomyces flavor, other than maybe the pineapple? Good regardless.

Liars. This certainly tastes like an orange juilius. This milkshake like lactose bomb is delicious! Tropical aromas and flavor. Creamy as can be mouthfeel.

For those that want the creamy milshake IPA. Definitely going to drink again. This milkshake brings all the boys to the yard...

Pours hazy orange-gold. 1+ finger cream colored head. Kinda fizzy and not long lasting.

Tropical aroma. Pineapple, peach, grapefruit, and orange.

Lot of orange on the tongue. Mix of tropical and citrus underneath. Pineapple and grapefruit as strong complements.

Moderate mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Low bitterness but an edge of acidity.

Nice NEIPA. Lots of orange flavor.

The only gripe I have against this beer is the tartness in the sediment at the very end of the can. Up until that point it is pleasant with a slightly tart balance.

On Tap at the Salinas Tasting Room (see notes on can pour as well)
L - This pours a hazy light orange very little head looks like tang
S - I get oranges grapefruit passion fruit some hop dankness
T - The taste is sweetness up front then juicy grapefruit, lemon, oranges, mango, and guava. From the tap there is a little peppery spice after taste. I later found that this flavor comes from a white material that is suspended in the fluid. I let this settle out in the can and it cuts down on the spiciness.
F - There is light carbonation. The beer has a good body. It's smooth and juicy.
O - Consumed cold it's a little bitter. It really comes together as it warms a little bit

Pour is straight medium orange haze, one of the more hazier IPA's I've ever seen. Aroma is a strong citrus zest, plenty of oranges with a hint of lemon peel. Undertones of tropical fruit, mango, melons and pears. Strong orange zest upfront, quite a resinous hop bitterness in the back end with a splash of pine. Mouthfeel is a little dry for this style of IPA, finishes like a Brett. Hoppiness lingers.

Interesting twist on a traditional NE style IPA! If you're looking for something pillowy soft with loads of tropical fruit(like most NE style IPA's), this may not be your thing. Has the west coast pungency hop bitterness with a look that begs to differ, still a solid beer.

Canned 1-25-17. Consumed 1 can the day after on 1-26, and one can last night. Look: Orange and murky with a bit of brown color mixed in. Smell: Bright orange peel, bitter hops, almost no malt sweetness detected, bit of mango and melon. Taste: orange juice mashed together with abrasive hops, almost burns the tongue. Rounded off with mango and melon notes. Almost no malt sweetness to balance the acidic citrus flavors and bitter hop presence. Very unbalanced. Feel: uneven, hops rake over the tongue with acidic citrus. Overall: my least favorite offering from Alvarado street. Just really unbalanced, but still somewhat flavorful and enjoyable.

Purchased at The Good Hop in can one day after canning (1/25/17).

L: super hazy / cloudy / golden orange yellow / thin creamy head

S: orange / apricot / mango / papaya / with hint of malt and resinous pine

T: tropical display of citrus / melon / papaya / apricot / dank resin

F: thick / chewy / minimal subtle carb / clean

O: I'm a sucker for beers like this one! This is definitely a treat! Comparable to Galaxy Juice from Fieldwork but definitely distinct! Love the look / taste / feel of this one! Happy to have grabbed a 4 pack and would definitely grab it the next time around! Highly recommend!

I can smell love in the California air. Pour is superbly cloudy, with decent retention to boot and 'tis the season for this Halloween-like spotty lacing. Nose is hefty on vaginal pith, pineapple, orange rind, grapefruit and tea leaf. Taste follows with a bit of Kate Upton runway sweat, dates on malt, cantaloupe, burnt melon and marijuana resin. Solid airy carb for 8%, super crushable, and extremely dangerous. This is f*cking larrrrge.

A: golden orange. Light white to opaque thin head. Decent haze

S: citrus juice. Subtle tropical notes. Tangerine pith. Little resin

T: more citrus fruit. Some mango skin. Orange zest. Pine at the end

F: pretty soft and Creamy. Good light body but with substance. Almost chewable like cool whip. Clean finish

O: I really like this. Malty but some bitterness. Not as "juicy" as it was trying to be relative to the Beasts from New England but all in all pretty great.
