One of our original "hazy" double IPA's that's constantly tweaked to draw out as much juice-like character as possible, utilizing the interactions of hops & expressive yeast. Leading with Mosaic & Citra for a tropical onslaught in the nose & palate, bitterness is restrained with a heavenly mouthfeel from the addition of malted & flaked oats.

Holy moly. This beer is a monster.
I mean that in the best way. I love many types of beer, but pale ale and various forms of IPA are my sweet spot. I enjoy some hazy’s, but sometimes burn out on them.

I took one sip of this beer and was floored. It’s THAT good. Smooth, complex, delicious without being too malty or too hoppy or too anything.

Phenomenally good - no wonder it was the last one left on the shelf at Llama Dog in SB.

I’m honestly tempted to say this is the best beer I have ever tasted.

For me, it’s the Goldilocks beer. Not too this or too that — Just Right.

A&S: The beer is very dull yellow-orange. It pours half a finger, but retains well in a thin layer of head of white foamy head w/ some lacing. The aroma isn’t powerful but contains piney, floral, and grassy notes.

T&M: Much more fruity and juicy than the aroma would have you expect. No hint of alcohol. The piney and floral profile comes through in the finish. Medium-full body. smooth while maintaining a clean finish. Very drinkable especially for 8.5%

Overall: I have never heard of this brewery, but the beer was very good. I would recommend and would seek out others from these guys.

Amazing head retention and lacing, seriously this one is elite with regards to that. Smell is a little lacking but the taste more then makes up for it. A bit more hoppy than the pillowy new england style brews you get in the northeast, but is still a high quality brew.
A mix of west coast meets east coast, I highly recommend it to anyone who finds it on the shelf, even with the high price point. Alvarado and Cellarmaker continue to set the standard in the Bay Area, and are up there with the best of the best in this great beer-brewing nation.

I am sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into a mug. Date stamp is 11/2021. Got buried in my fridge. Also I have definitely fallen off of IPA drinking, but figured tonight is a good enough time as any.
THe beer pours a hazy golden color, does look like OJ with a fluffy bleached white head of 1 cm foaming up. This foam sticks around as a wispy surface covering during the sampling.
Aroma is evident from the pour and without even sniffing the glass. I get lots of citrus with orange and some pineapple mixing and also find some grassy notes and a little mango and definitely some "dank" scents that make me think of pot.
First sip reveals a medium to thin body with soft rolling carbonation and generally easy to drink texture.
Flavor is orange, peach, pineapple and mango up front with a little bit of grapefruit and citrus rind on the finish. Also dries on the finish. Never any hint of the ABV.
Good NEIPA, just not really my thing, but I think this hits all the right notes.

Price: $25.99 for a mixed 4-pack
From: Blind Lady Ale House in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Feb. 21, 2021
Consumed: Feb. 27, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Feb. 10, 2021

Bought an Alvarado Street mixed 4-pack when I saw it available at Blind Lady Ale House. I love that BLAH is doing these lately as I’m on their website every day. Had this once before, having a taster at Bottlecraft on June 9, 2019 and giving it a 4.50 on Untappd, writing “Terrific.” Untappd description calls it “One of our original "Hazy" double IPA's that's constantly tweaked to draw out as much juice-like character as possible, utilizing the interactions of hops & expressive yeast. Leading with Mosaic & Citra for a tropical onslaught in the nose & palate, bitterness is restrained with a heavenly mouthfeel from the addition of malted & flaked oats.”

Poured a light golden hazy color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy off-white head. Lots of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. World-class spiderweb lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.75)

Smelled a nice mix of Mosaic and Citra right away. Also bubblegum, mixed berry, floral, mango, passion fruit, peach, stone fruit, orange rind, pine, candied melon, grapefruit and hints of Circus Peanuts candy. About as good out of the can. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted just as good as the nose. A little more Citra than Mosaic. Also mixed berry, mango, passion fruit, papaya, peach, stone fruit, bubblegum, floral, orange rind, pine, grapefruit, citrus zest and candied melon. (Taste - 4.25)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.50)

Loved this beer, but not quite as good as the last time I had it. Still world-class. (Overall - 4.50)

Had Contains No Juice poured from pint can, bottom stamped "CANNED ON 04/21/2021," and "NOT FROM CONCENTRATE," imported to Miss. by little bro., into nonic pint.

Pours beautiful tangerine milkshake with 2-finger foamy off-white head, with excellent retention, leaving thick rings of lace down the glass. Aromas of grass and big and spicy citrus off the pour, with the aromas turning tropical (fruit), including pineapple, and dank as warms, with some berries showing later. Begins with significant hop bite, which continues and grows, over dry malt and mild citrus, some tropical fruits, including pineapple, and a smooth, creamy milkshake body, before a crisp, still fruity finish.

Looks great, smells good, feels great, tastes good, industrial strength IPA.

Pours a light orange/straw color with a thin white head and minimal lacing.

The smell is a mix of orange and grapefruit juice with a nice hoppy/bitter smell underneath. There's a hint of tropical also.

The taste is earthy and tropical pineapple to start with a strong citrus finish - mostly orange and a bit of sweetness.

The mouthfeel is thick and velvety with a long finish.

Overall it's a really complex beer with more flavors than the nose lets on.
