A new Double IPA we were attempting to make more in the West Coast-style, but it came out pretty hazy, and quite frankly, pretty damn juicy too from the use of Mosaic, El Dorado, and Amarillo hops. Fermented with a yeast strain that's new to us, it's definitely on the fruitier side but has a firm, West Coast-style bitterness and finishes very dry. Name is a pun off Cool Runnings, of course, and relates to the "runoff" process when lautering into the brew kettle.

Two month old can. Expected a more Turpid appearance. Smell is pure orange/tangerine. and pinaeple. Taste is as follows but the astringency ruins the finish for me. My goodness does it burn. I suppose this would be much better when fresher.

Had Cool Runoffs poured from pint can, bottom stamped "CANNED ON 04/28/2021," and "SANKA, YA DEAD MON," imported to the 'sip by little bro., into nonic pint.
Pours bright orange juice with huge off-white bubbly head, with excellent retention, leaving scattered chunks of lace down the glass. Aroma of citrus rind and mild malt off pour, with (mostly) the citrus continuing, and then melon joining and growing as warms. On drinking, begins with sweet citrus, hop (resin) bite, and definite but mild malt, and the hop bite and malt continue to a sticky but crisp, biting finish.
Lotsa fruit in the aroma, little in the flavor, uncomplicated, balanced, hazy American DIPA.

Good head production, but it's a touch fizzy and fades relatively quickly, leaving behind very sparse and spotty lacing. Body is hazy, pulpy, and almost completely opaque.
Moderately dank nose, along with green herbs, pepper, and citrus. Tropical tones are present but muted by the dankness.
Very juicy on the palate, while maintaining a decent amount of bitterness. Dank and bright herbal notes alike carry the finish, along with mango and citrus peel. Up front, notes of honey, lush mango and papaya, and banana mix together. Middle is dank.
Very lively; wet moderate to light-full mouthfeel; semi-dry and crisp finish. The result is a sip you savor, but then are quickly readied for the next.

Can: Poured a cloudy/hazy bright yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of huge juicy notes of citrus and tropical notes with some residual sugar notes is quite enticing. Taste is also a great mix of huge juicy and citrusy notes with some residual sugar notes and no discernible bitterness. Body is full with good carbonation. Super enjoyable double NEIPA.

At the time I had this I hadn’t realized it was a DIPA. Pours hazy, NE-style. Juicy aroma, just a big bouquet of pineapple and tropical fruit. Goes down incredibly smoothly. Oh, it’s good!

Perfect time to review a beer like this from Alvarado Street. Just got back from a trip to New England, stepped into the box against some heavy hitters. Was ultimately left concluding that some of the lesser knowns on the national scale outta California could just as easily compete with those guys.
Anyways, I bought a 4 pack of this when I was in Sac for Sac Beer Week. Pours a relatively brighter glow yellow with plenty of thick haze. Oh yeah, did I mention the design for this beer is pretty cool? 1/3" white head. Aroma popped. Amarillo and Mosaic are quite the aroma combo. Dank tropical fruit up in ya nose. Make sure you get yourself a little bit of that El Dorado pushin' the sweet tart pink as well.
Taste is super enjoyable, they make 8% super crushable, waves of low bitterness tropical fruit keep it going. I dunno how "dry" it is per the commercial tug job, but it is super enjoyable. Reminds me a little of fruit stripe gum (sans the flavor drop off) in terms of its hoppy fruit flavors running the gauntlet. More creamy than dry. Can hang with anything Tree House, Trillium or Lawsons put out on my trip.

One of the very best from Alvarado Street.
Papaya and Pineapple dominate the palate. A soft pillowy texture makes it a pleasure to drink at 8.1% ABV. Definitely pick up the Mosaic hops.
Only a hint of bitterness that accentuates the flavor. Get some bubble gum flavor as well, subdued. Taste follows the nose perfectly. You taste all that aroma. Extremely delicious. This is a juicy DIPA. It all comes together beautifully.
Highly recommended. Glad Alvarado Street has this on their regular rotation a few times a year.

Sweet pineapple tropical hoppy, slightly yeasty and dank nose on this one! Taste follows well with some tropical and citrus bitter juiciness on the funish. It is lighter-bodied than I was expecting, but still good!

Picked this up on the way to the 2019 Firestone Invitational. Meant to have this for the share, but we ended up never having it. Description read, “A new Double IPA we were attempting to make more in the West Coast-style, but it came out pretty hazy, and quite frankly, pretty damn juicy too from the use of Mosaic, El Dorado and Amarillo hops. Poured a golden hazy color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Los of bubbles creeping up along the sides of the glass. Good spotty lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled Mosaic, bubblegum, floral, El Dorado, candied fruit, orange juice, tangerine, Amarillo, papaya, stone fruit, pineapple, watermelon and pear. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted just as good as the nose. Damn. Got Mosaic, bubblegum, floral, El Dorado, candied fruit, watermelon, Amarillo, orange juice, tangerine, pear, papaya, pineapple and grapefruit. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Just a tremendous hazy DIPA. Excellent. (Overall - 4.25)

Can poured into a Russian River Brewing Co pint glass
A: Pours super hazy golden orange amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and leaves some thick lacing.
S: Mix of ripe citrus, melon, tropical, and stone fruit, a touch of pine, a little spice, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
T: Big time juicy almost candied fruit, tropical, pineapple, passion fruit, and watermelon, orchard fruit, pear, peach, citrus, orange and lemon, a little pine, a touch of spice, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, creamy soft on the palate.
O: I'm not big on El Dorado hops, and they kinda take over and make this one a bit too sweet for my taste. Still a really good beer though.

This beer pours a nice murky, hazy golden color. The head is 1 finger, white, frothy, and long lasting. There's nice lacing on the glass.
The nose hits when pouring with a hint of citrus. Up close you get a mellow citrus aroma. Pineapple and grapefruit.
Taste - The flavor is mellow up front. On the backside the hops kick in. I really get pineapple. Not too much with the grapefruit that I got in the nose.
The body is decent. Somewhat creamy. Slight lingering of the hops in my throat.
Tasty, and fairly easy drinking IPA.

L: Hazy golden yellow. About a finger of a frothy white cap which dissipated rapidly. Moderate lacing left on glass.
S: Pineapple, mango, papaya, orange, grapefruit, lemon and biscuity malts all on the nose. A lot of fruit on the nose.
T: Tropical fruit forward, with a nice malty backbone. Fresh grassy hop profile with with mild bitterness on the finish. As it sits exposed to air, the booze is slightly noticeable but not over done.
F: Light to medium in body with high amounts of carbonation. Smooth and easy to drink. I do think the carbonation could be scaled back a bit, but it isn't a deal breaker.
O: Very enjoyable. That juicy flavor is great, and the slight bitter finish keeps it from being overly sweet. Very easy drinking for 8.10 abv. I am very glad to have tried, and would drink again. Cheers!
