On draft at Parish.
In snifter. Very dark brown. Can’t see through glass. Dark milky brown creamy head.
Smells predominantly coconut with vanilla, chocolate, nuts, alcohol.
Tastes predominantly coconut as well but not overpowering as I had heard before. Maybe a little too much. Also a malty oaky nutty chocolatey flavor.
Creamy medium mouthfeel. Appropriate viscosity for a big brown ale. Not as thick as a big stout. Little boozy.
Overall well done. A little boozy and coconutty doesn’t feel all that much combined. Like they dumped some coconut rum in the batch without aging. Good overall.

Sweet, dark chocolate-malty, and hint of coconut aromatics on this one! Taste follows really well with a prominent, roasty, dark-bready malty, coconut-chocolate swallow. This is smooth and creamy like on the finish...feels good on the palate! This is good!

Canned 12/20/18.
L: Pours cola brown in color, but settles near black. Despite taking it slow on the pour, a khaki-colored 2 fingers width cap formed at record pace but didn't stick around long. Heaps of residual lacing coats the glass.
S: Chocolate malts are the dominant aroma. Coconut is present but not overwhelming.
T: Holy moly this is a coconut bomb. It tastes more like coconut than coconut itself. It's natural, raw and the non-artificial coconut that we all love. Fantastic. I also get flavors of chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, brown sugar and some spice that reminds me of cinnamon and nutmeg. Overall great flavor. As I sit here and drink it, the residual aftertaste of coconut is almost unbelievable.
F: Light to medium in body but a little thicker in weight. Carbonation is moderate for the style. Provides a syrupy coating to the palate. No alcohol detection.
O: This is great. As I drink it, the coconut is so prominent that I'm not sure that I have had anything with quite this much coconut. It's great, and I am always down to drink a brown ale, imperial or not. Alvarado put in some good work! I am very grateful to have tried. Cheers!

16oz can from the brewpub in Monterey, CA. Pours dark brown almost black with a ring of tan head with good lacing, smell is sweet chocolaty coconut, taste is toasted chocolate malts and coconut sweetness with an hint of bitter/roasted aftertaste, medium bodied with soft carbonation. A macaroon dipped in chocolate.
