Specifically went to Lama Dog for Alvarado St. and came back with four and a Humble Sea beer. Was drawn to this one because of the strawberry. It’s tough to make a good beer with strawberry. Untappd called it, “Redder, Riper version with thousands of pounds of strawberry, as well as milk sugar and vanilla.” I never had the original version, so starting out with the big boy.
Poured a light amber murky color with one finger of off-white head. Could see a few bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Below average lacing. Decent retention. (Sight - 3.25)
Smelled vanilla, strawberry, strawberry milk, strawberry puree and confectionary sugar. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted a little better than the nose. In order got strawberry milk, vanilla, strawberry milkshake, sugary vanilla frosting, strawberry puree and confectionary sugar. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Sugary sweet finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was an outstanding beer overall. (Overall - 4.00)
