A hazy yellow color. Huge, fluffy white head that recedes quickly, leaving a little lace.
Aroma of bread and fruit.
Taste is lemon, bread, a little spice.
Dry finish.
Nice beer!

Not as impressed with this, trying it from a can in a tall Hefeweizen glass. I love that is a wee bit tart in comparison to other local basic saisons. I think I need this colder tbh. Just not a ton going on for me. But it's not bad in any sense

Bought this crowler from Beer Drop. (My copy is 4.6 ABV, understandable given this came from a keg and saisons vary based on what is available.) This is a classical saison, quenching and suitable with many foods.

For Looks, Baere's Saison is below average. It, too, partly suffers from lack of foam due, probably, to Mile High altitudes. (I speculate this is a common problem among my Beer Drop selections; but I fault them not... these micros may even figure out how to make yeast Mile High foam.) Smells give me muted malts and hops. Tastes, showing craft, are well-integrated and balanced; as drying hops gradually take over my mouth. But once I start eating, they play nice with the food. While lacking foam and sufficient bubbles, Baere's saison still clears my palate for another bite and, thereby, passes my test for a traditional farmhouse ale.

As for my micro-review of Baere... I could drink more from them. Three of their top 10 most rated BA beers are saisons... so Baere is working on improving this yeast. And they are in the saison's classical vein; not being too wayward with Brett & Friends. I would appreciate a website from this seven-year old that explains more what they are about, other than a nice taproom. I will look for that during the course of finishing my next Beer Drop shipment.

This is the bottled saison that won at GABF in 2016.

The carbonation is very high. It creates a head that is at least 4 inches tall in my New Belgium snifter. The color is a light straw. Clarity is medium.

The beer has a huge brett nose. I get some wet straw, a little bit of donkey, I also smell some spicy phenols and ripe mango. No malt or hop aroma.

There is some bread flavor and phenols. Dry with a high level of carbonation. Body is medium.

The beer is awesome. It is crisp, it is complex, the brett is just in the right place. It also aged beautifully in the bottle. The color, aroma, flavor, all play so well together.

this beer is incredible, some of the very best from these guys so far. its a total gusher from a slightly aged bottle, uncontrollable bone white from on the pour, slowly oozing out of the bottle even after we pour out all the beer. a little cakey crumbly yeast bits floating around in the bottom making it look a little turbid, but its not super hazy, and with the brightness and the puffy white head, its awfully attractive in appearance. it smells mature to me, and ever so slightly wild, a bretty funk is there with the belgian saison yeast and a grassy herbal complexion from both the hops and the wheat malt, really classic, rustic, old worldy, and interesting. this is what saison is supposed to smell like. a little breadiness to the malt in the flavor, could be some pils in here too, a pronounced lemongrass note, subtle green pear and white wine, funky yeast, no tartness at all though, and a cleanish finish. explosive carbonation, a little hoppiness, and a unique authenticity about it. this is good enough to have come from some of the big names in belgium. we all loved it!
