From a can
Pours a clean, clear golden color with a billowy cap of foam. I'm liking this beer already and we only just met. Light aroma with more of a tropical hop character as its sipped. The rye is delicate but present. There's a gentle peppery note and a great finish. I like this!

Pours a very pale gold with nice lacing and retention
Nose is tropical fruit like guava, but there's also a dankness to it
Taste is dank tropical fruit, citrus zest, even a little pine. Little rye spiciness. Interesting to see that many different flavor profiles.
Medium bodied, kind of creamy mouthfeel.

Canned on 3/25/19, consumed on 4/13/19. Poured from a tall-boy into my Dogfish Head shaped pint glass.
Bright clear gold/maize liquid supports three fingers of soft-peaks; thick rocky crenellated lacing; superior retention.
Gentle fruit and grain in the nose with a hint of wild clover as well. Mild and inviting.
Slightly sharp palate entry with a certain husky/green-apple component suggesting the brewing parameters were imperfect, though I wouldn't go so far to say there are off flavors. Fairly malt forward with a whisper of DMS and plenty of rye character accompanied by a mild but persistent bitterness. Hop flavors are largely grassy with a hint of citrus, white grape, and unripe strawberry. Some vague sweetness appears a little before the finish which is dry and moderately lengthy. Improves a bit as it warms actually.
Creamy yet crisp, fairly light-bodied for the ABV which is well integrated if not concealed.
Surprisingly lacking in hop character, both in the aroma and the flavor, this comes across as a decent, rye-infused APA - pretty off the mark with regard to style, but fairly enjoyable (especially as the weather heats up) none the less.

Well slap me silly and call me Sally - this done son of a gun is pretty good! (Not that Raul was expecting less. But sometimes, ya know? Sometimes…) Anyway, this thing is hella ripe like the last time Alicia Schmidt went on vacation - I’m talking more tropical than Kermit free basing in Hawaii. Along with that is this bad ass rye backbone like Sam Peckinpah shooting things at sundown.
So yeah, I’m kind of feeling it.

Oh, it's so clear and lovely. Amber color with plenty of foam in the Saint-Martin goblet. Quite spicy in the nicest way. Plenty of malty sweetness to set the tone, with a bitter, tangy finish. Crisp and sudsy in the mouth. Medium body with a slick touch, like there's oats.
Seems kind of hot as well as spicy. Grainy and fruity as well. Mango and that dark rye taste. It does have substantial residual bitterness, but it's quite interesting and satisfying. From the 16 oz can purchased at Bottlecraft.

Type: 16-oz. can
Glass: Melvin 14-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $2.99
Purchased: April 13, 2018

Picked this up at Windmill Farms, along with a bunch of other beer. Would be my third Three Weavers review (sixth overall on Untappd), having previously given Seaferer a 4.12 and Expatriate a 4.08. Back of the can read, “Return of Sassy is our Whimsical Rye IPA collaboration with fellow Los Angeles brewmaster, Devon Randall. Just like out friend Devon, this beer is bold, fabulous and super sassy.” Didn’t know anything else heading into the review. Would be my first beer from Arts District.
Poured a gold, clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy off-white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at fast speeds. Looked like a snow globe. Almost perfect foamy lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled floral, caramel, spicy rye, dank resin, pine, strawberry, spoiled melon and skunk. The can added more tropical notes in mango and guava. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted was much more maltier than the nose. A lot different really. Got those spicy rye spices up front. Also floral, dank resin, pine, ruby red grapefruit, Simcoe, Mosaic, strawberry, passion fruit, guava and mango. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Spicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was an outstanding IPA. I feel like I undervalued this overall. Really liked it. (Overall - 4.00)

Poured from a 16-ounce can, dated 3/8/18, a clear light orangish under a one-inch thick white head which leaves splotchy lace. Aroma is floral, with both tropical and citrus fruit notes. Flavor is solid rye-spicyness, with pine and grapefruit pith. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter with the expected rye spice. For the price at the source ($12 for 4x16oz), pretty darn good.

A: Bright citrusy, zesty, hop fruitiness with a mild rye aroma.
A: Light orange color with a bit of a golden hue. There foamy head that slowly dissipates to a ring around the glass.
T: Big citrus zest hoppiness with some rye flavor in the background. Very crisp and finishes pretty dry.
M: Light bodied with moderate carbonation
O: Pretty tasty; the beer uses great citrusy hops in the aromas and flavors, which mesh well with the rye.
