Thanks, Nick!

Got this and a host of other good stuff from Nick. Anything Weldwerks and I’m in. Not sure I’ve had many Bottle Logic IPAs, but was still excited for the collab. Back of the can read “Hazy Double India Pale Ale. Brewed with Lotus, Mosaic + Nelson Sauvin Hops.” Still new to Lotus, but count me in for Mosaic and Nelson. Looking up Lotus characteristics it looks like orange, vanilla, candied grape and tropical fruit. Seems like something I’d like.

Poured a hazy gold color with three fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see some bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spotty lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.50)

Smelled big floral, juicy peach, nectarine, orange juice, guava, mango, white grape, melon and hints of Jolly Rancher grape candy. For mentioned hops, seemed pretty balanced with Lotus maybe slightly ahead, followed by Mosaic and Nelson. More peach, nectarine and orange juice from the can. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted almost as good as the nose, but a little bit different. In order got peach, nectarine, pulpy orange juice, white grape, mango, guava, papaya, peppery spice stone fruit and melon. For mentioned hops, Nelson stood out, followed by Lotus and Mosaic. Definitely getting all that 8.5 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Boozy, hop burn finish. (Feel - 3.75)

Was back and forth on a few of the categories here, but overall this was excellent. (Overall - 4.25)

Beautiful, evenly hazy peach and apricot body; thin, somewhat fizzy head. The aroma infuses grapefruit, orange peel, and biscuit notes; mild funkiness. The taste somewhat mimics the smell; grainy and cereal like; big booziness. Heavy body; sharp and a bit acrid; burning; heavy on the residual sugars and possibly oats.

I don't know. This tastes like a double hazy IPA in many respects yet really lacks balance and nuance. There is plenty of biting bitterness and phenolic qualities, especially with the taste, but there is a definite lack of pleasing juiciness to offset the hardness of the base beer, hops, and alcohol.

Canned 3 weeks ago.

Pours hazy orange with a thin white head.

The nose is peach and gasoline.

The taste opens with peach and orange, before moderate hop burn on the backend. The most I've experienced this sensation with a WeldWerks beer. It's borderline astringent, even with 3 weeks in the can.

The mouthfeel opens medium before the drying hop intensity.

Overall, good but not a repeat for me. Sub-par for a WeldWerks beer.

16oz can. Poured out a slightly cloudy, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam that left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of grapefruit, orange and mango with some caramel sweetness. Nice tropical fruit punch with toasted caramel and a sharp bitterness.

Pours a turbid, dark sunflower gold body topped with a finger and a half of fluffy, white foam; sub-par head retention leaves a paper-thin veil of sooty cap, light, frothy collar, and a minimal spattering of webby, soapy lacing.

Aroma brings a lemony dank quality merging with white grape skins before musty peach and sweet apricot impart a more developed fruity sweetness on the middle; rubbery grass and guava evolve in the back end, while hints of lychee accentuate the close.

Taste opens with white peach and guava as a danker tone of white grape esters is subtle along the mid-palate; lychee and sweet, tropical rinds are interwoven with punchy hints of alcohol on the back end and through the finish.

Mouthfeel shows a medium body alongside a mild carbonation; a touch creamy, with a consistency remaining even across the palate; prickly bitterness contrasts a juicy burst through the mid-palate as the texture sharpens into and past the swallow; a condensed, moderate hop burn lingers as a result.

An intense yet fairly harmonious balance of tropical fruits and subtle dankness works in this beer's favor, though as with other Weldwerks IPAs, the untamed booziness becomes its undoing; unfortunately, this one is no different in that it simply can't maintain itself consistently without the alcohol becoming a distraction.
