Canned 1/31/23 (3 months ago)
Appearance: Pours a completely hazy (5% clarity) deep and pale golden color with a massive white head that lingers. SRM of 7. (4.25)
Aroma: Moderate aromas of tropical orange, pineapple, berries and melon. (4.00)
Flavor: Moderate flavors of tropical berries, cotton candy, raspberries, and melon. Creamy and smooth and finish. (4.25)
Feel: Medium bodied, and strong combination. A creamy and smooth mouthfeel. (4.50)
Compared to Toppling Goliath Electric Dino Boogie 5/2023: Pours darker and hazier. Larger head. Milder aromas. More blue berries and and raspberries. Less orange flower, canteloupe, peach. Creamier with a larger malt body. Smoother.
Overall: Another excellent Hop Butcher NEIPA. Nice Simcoe and Nectaron. Has tropical berries and cotton candy flavors. Creamy and smooth malt body in Hop Butcher fashion. Deep, slightly heavier than usual, but still incredibly drinkable. (Rating: 4.12+)

Thanks to FBarber for this surprise.

The nose absolutely takes front stage before I even take in the appearance. Dang. Guava, kumquat peel, underripe mango, light orange peel, lemon zest, and muted pineapple. Truth be told, I tend to be a bit averse to some of the more pronounced tropical and spice notes of Motueka. This is smooth on the citrus and quite balanced on the tropical.
OK, back to the appearance. Turbid, muted gold, fluffy white head that slowly settles to a thin, milky cap. Great retention, layered cloudy lacing.
Flavor is more of a balance between the citrus and the tropical to start off. But now the herbal spice comes in more. It's warming in the throat. It kind of outshines the lemon notes, lime, mango, guava, and pineapple.
Mouthfeel is medium and a bit fluffy. I love that. But the warming is a tad strong. Finishes a bit peppery and herbal in the bitter range.
Overall, this has some seriously song attributes with a few things that I would prefer a minor adjustment. The nose is amazing, much of the flavor profile is solid, but there is that overly warm herbal spice that I don't love. Still a damn good NEIPA.

Excellent head production; good retention. Body is turbid and opaque, and a shade right between lemon yellow and orange. Nice lacing.
Juicy hop notes on the nose, strongly tropical with a lighter citrus accent. Peach, mango, melon, cream, tangerine, lemon zest. It's not particularly strong, but it's balanced and intriguing.
Similarly balanced on the palate. It's big, but neither overly boozy nor malty. The hop notes lean tropical, with just a bit of a citrus bite. Smooth drinking.
This doesn't really bring anything new to the table, but it's a very tasty and well executed NE-style IPA. I'd gladly down a few.

Pours a completely opaque bright yellow-orange color. Thick, pillowy white head. As the head recedes sticky lacing and a thin layer of foam remains on the beer.
Aroma has notes of orange, pineapple, lemon and some woody green hops.
Taste has notes of orange, pineapple, lemon, tangerine, with hops coming through on the back end with notes of wood, green grass, and some herbal notes.
Feel is medium bodied, smooth, almost creamy. Moderate carbonation.
Overall another very nice, well done IPA from Hop Butcher.

Canned 2/9/22; drank 2/11/22 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque dull orange appearance.
An even pour yielded a huge off-white head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace.
Melon, mango & dry grass notes in the nose.
Creamy medium mouthfeel.
Melon & dry grass flavors up front; mango notes on the finish.
Very fruity but a bit dry...overall a very nice NE IPA.
