2020 vintage notes: ABV: 14.0%; Blend of 21 and 24 months bourbon barrel aged Imperial Stout.
2022 vintage notes: For our second batch of Radio Silence, we blended stouts aged in Heaven Hill (27 months) and Woodford Reserve (35 months) Bourbon barrels. We like to keep Radio Silence all about the stouts and the bourbon barrels only, no adjuncts were harmed in the process.

Very strong, boozy, and thick. It pours like brownie batter. Note flavors of chocolate, cherries, soy sauce, and of course, bourbon. It is very thick and heavy bodied, like WW Medianoche. I like it, but just so heavy, I’d prefer to share with someone instead of soloing.

Pour at Zwanzw Day 2024. Blacl, slick our, barely there ring of beige head. Aroma and taste come in super sweet, chocolate, roasty malts and bourbon barrel. Some coffee and vanilla notes sneak in towards the back. Slippery feel.

2022 vintage; consumed on 8/21/2023
Pours a viscous, stark jet-black body capped with a barely-formed fuzz of deep mocha foam, fading quickly to a blank cap, richly creamy, moderate collar, and no lacing forming around the walls of the glass.
Aroma is enveloped in a black cherry and barrel char build upfront, easing dark cacao husk subtleties and a dusty rickhouse accent before bourbon heat wafts over the latter half of the bouquet.
Taste features black cherry and barrel char extending upfront into tempered fudge and milk chocolate edges through the mid-palate, leaving a back end marked with barrel tannins silky on the swallow.
Mouthfeel brings a full body, oily-slick in texture and sporting minimal-no carbonation; a delicate residual spritz supplies a creamy tingle, while a budding warmth settles to a semi-sticky close.
A committed, basic approach, casually refined with weighty tannins informing deep, roasty sweetness; a steady, enjoyable non-adjuncted offering from Great Notion.

On draft at Great Notion Northwest brewpub, in a snifter.
Deep dark black color with only small amount of foam present around the edge of glass. Big bourbon sweetness on the nose and in the flavor. Unmistakable barrel presence without coming off as overly boozy either. Medium mouthfeel for this big 14% abv brew.
