Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American Double / Imperial Stout
Glass: Ball 16-oz. mason jar
Price: $7.99
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: May 12, 2021
Consumed: June 21, 2021
Misc.: Canned on April 15, 2021
Spent way too much on a recent trip to Windmill Farms, including four Great Notion beers. Untappd description was “This beast of an Imperial Stout was brewed with locally roasted coffee, rich coconut, and a dose of sweet vanilla.”
Poured a pitch-black color with 1-to-2 fingers of dark tan fizzy head, which dissipated quickly. Could see a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Average watery lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 3.50)
Smelled coconut, vanilla, milk chocolate, chocolate syrup, roasted coffee, Mounds candy bar and cacao. Not as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted coconut, vanilla, milk chocolate, chocolate syrup, Mounds candy bar, roasted coffee, semi-char wood, cacao, hazelnut and roasty malts. Super smooth for 11.6 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.50)
Full body. Creamy-to-sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 5.00)
I think I underrated this because it was excellent. Damn. (Overall - 4.25)

Pitch black body. Massive coconut and a touch of coffee bitterness. The vanilla is far back in the background that it mainly contributes to the sickness of the body and mouthfeel. Medium full bodied. Lower carb. Name belies the beer here, I think, as there really is quite a bit more coconut than vanilla on all counts.
