this is a banger, been hiding out in my beer fridge awhile, not sure how it survived me for so long in there, but last night was the night, a great pick, hoppy lager, vibrant and distinctive, easy drinking, still super fresh tasting to me, a mix of hops but its the hbc 586 that defines it for me, love this varietal, im sure it will get a name soon, its here to stay folks, among my favorites right now. this is super light to drink on but also exceedingly flavorful, and the recipe is super smart. like its real hoppy but never bitter in the last, dry hoppy but not forced, fruity but not exclusively so, we still get a pretty full spectrum hop profile even without the back end bite, this is modern, thoughtful, and magically well refined, and this is why i keep buying great notion beers, absolutely on point and i am bummed to only have a single can. some coconut notes from the hops, key lime too, zesty orange and growing green grass, a little pils malt at the core here keeping it balanced but this is way light on the grain side. nice minerality and overall water chemistry, the hops seem so clean over this foundation, even the lager yeast is minimal, drying and crisping but not adding a whole lot to the taste. fresh to me despite some time in my fridge, sunny and summery, hence the name, and with some mango, stone fruit, and even kiwi notes as it warms a little, super dynamic hop profile, wicked carbonation making it refreshing, and on the whole just a fantastic beer, i need to track down some more of this one. hbc 586 for the win!
