Cocalis is a black country beer that starts life as our Bones Shirt black lager. After primary fermentation, we rack this beer into oak barrels where it ripens under the influence of a mixed culture. This long and slow transformation in oak cask yields a zippy dark beer that is earthy, savory, with a touch of twang.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small foamy head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like earthy funk, roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit, and oak.
This is mightily transformed from being originally Bones Shirt. It’s nicely oaky, with an earthy, almost savory funk to it. There’s chocolate, roast, some light dried raisin or grape, and very little acidity – just a mild twang on the end.
This is light bodied, slightly creamy, and very drinkable.
This was extremely enjoyable – reminiscent of something like Edith from Hill Farmstead.

Dark burgundy blue colopred pour with soapy lacing and and slightly fruit. Taste is dark twangy fruit with oak and finishes dry. Nice lingering fruity twang with a medium body.
Not my gig but it's solid.

dark brown in color, not quite black. cream colored head. Aroma and taste is mildly tart and mildly roasty. Fairly complex- also a little oak and earthy funk. Unique combo of flavors, but it works

750ml bottle. Label date is '04 - 2022'.
Black colored body. One finger of beige colored head, which reduces cinematically bubble by bubble to a thin cap and ring. Partial lacing rings extend.
Aroma is oak arched over malt, dark fruit, and caramel.
Taste is diggable. Oak barrel, red wine, cherry, chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. Quick close to the aftertaste, with the trailing flavors of chocolate and red wine. Throughout there is a sour note, which adds the "twang" noted on the label description.
Heavier mouth feel. Totally mouth coating. Dry finish but remnants remain. Good carbonation.
Exquisite brewing.
