Canadian Lager

IBU 13

As the pride and joy of our brewery, this lager is more than just a beer – it’s a tribute to the natural wonders that surround our little village nestled between Rondeau Bay and Lake Erie. With its golden hue and perfectly balanced flavor profile, it’s easy to see why this brew is our flagship beer. Every sip is bursting with bold and satisfying flavors that will leave your taste buds craving more, and the light and crisp finish will leave you feeling refreshed and ready for whatever the day has in store. Sit back, enjoy the ones you’re with and swap some tales – after all, that’s what life in our little village is all about.
Cheers!

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, from my favourite LCBO at The Roundhouse Centre in nearby Windsor. My second beer from the Erieau, ON brewery.

A solid, white head of foam reaches three inches. The beer is amber to dark gold and gem clear (SRM 5-7). The head slowly turns rocky, leaving a thick blanket and patchy lace after five minutes. Slow, random carbonation sparkles within.

The aroma is primarily corn, with honey and bread dough providing contrast.

This one is more sweet than bitter, although both are mild at best. Corn, honey and coriander work with the lightly toasted malt. A strong, early finish fades quickly.

A medium body and oily texture with alcohol as expected. While the carbonation is soft, it is also plentiful.

This is a decent drinking beer that I am enjoying from a Pretentious Glass Company Amber Lager pint.

Pours a bright gold colour with a midsized fluffy white head. Corny and grainy on the nose. I get strange metallic notes on the taste, but otherwise I get your typical grains, bread and some hops. Bitter metallic aftertaste

Tallboy picked up in Erieau after grabbing a bite to eat at the brewpub. Best before Jan 11 2016 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a clear golden-amber colour, topped off with one finger of creamy, off-white froth. It fades away evenly over the next couple of minutes, leaving behind a foamy collar and a few wisps on the surface. Highly effervescent. Clean aroma - some doughy, wheaty malts and honey sweetness, along with a light grassiness and a hint of banana. Nothing too fancy.

Pretty tasty, and definitely falling on the sweet side of this style. The flavour profile mostly follows the nose - lots of clean, doughy malts, a light wheatiness, and a pronounced sweetness that is somewhere halfway between caramel and honey. Light hints of grassy hops and honey sweetness throughout the finish, and hanging on into the aftertaste. Light-medium in body, with moderate carbonation levels that provide a bit of crispness; overall it feels smooth and a bit slippery on the tongue. Very easy to drink, and quite refreshing - I used it to wash down a delicious soft pretzel on the patio.

Final Grade: 3.39, a B-. Bayside's Long Pond Lager is a surprisingly flavourful thirst-quencher. It features a consistently sweet flavour profile that will likely endear it to fans of amber lagers/ales, including beers such as Rickard's/Keith's Red. It's better than either of those, of course, but still mostly comes across as comparable to a decent-to-good homebrew. Not particularly memorable, but it's still an enjoyable summer quaffer that works quite acceptably as a complement to your typical pub fare.
