Poured a clear golden body with abundant bubbles going up the glass and a thick, foamy white head. Overall impression of appearance is of a lovely cream ale, quite well done. Scents of green chili upfront with a light presence of maize and malt and a light cream quality. Overall impression of flavor is of a chili beer that is very chili-forward, with a hint of the cream ale base. Flavor begins lightly dry with a strong flavor of roasted medium heat Hatch chili and a light flavor of malt and maize with moderate vegetal bitterness from chili, not hops. Middle opens up additional chili heat, very much Hatch green, with an additional light malt and maize presence. Finish is dry with a nice green chili flavor, with the roasted nature of the chili at its height with a light malt and maize sweetness to balance. Aftertaste is vegetal bitterness from chili, a light chili warmth and grainy malt and maize. Overall impression of mouthfeel is again, of a very chili-forward beer, but one that still lets the cream ale make its presence known. Also, the chili compliments the maize adjunct, and lends it a very southwestern flavor, without overwhelming the palate. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and creamy with medium-high carbonation and a quenching finish. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a very good cream ale. Overall this is an excellent chili beer. It takes a style that gets little respect and turns it a quite pleasant, very local beer in aroma and flavor. Well executed and quite good.

Cream ales, done well, are an incredibly underrated style, and this one is a fantastic version. Like liquid cornbread. Love that this appears to be a staple in the brewpub.

Brewery description:
"American Style Cream Ale with American grown corn and hops."
A very simple straight forward beer. Light with little aroma but a full body and refreshing finish. Not a style I typically get excited about but it came with their flight and it's a serviceable beer and reperesents the style well enough.
