If you know the SGB crew then you know how much we dig the meads coming out of Garagiste Meadery! We were honored to host them in Nashville a few weeks back for their first ever beer collaboration.
Taking inspiration from their heralded Reboog series of peanut butter and fruit infused meads, we present Reboog Roadtrip! This beer/mead hybrid, aka Braggot, started as our massive imperial stout before getting the SGB & Garagiste twists. In this instance that meant the addition of 360lbs of local wildflower honey, and ridiculous amounts of blackberries and peanut butter.
We intentionally bottled this massive 15.2% braggot with only a touch of carbonation to best reflect its mead inspired origins. This thick and velvety honey stout prominently features a nutty dessert profile before finishing with a jammy, tart blackberry component that allows for such a massive beverage to be quite drinkable.

By the grace of Buck89 I have had this experience. Eternally grateful.
Poured from a 500 ml bottle.
A deep ruddy brown. Small cocoa colored foam starts of loosely, then disappears in less than a minute.
Dear Lord, the aroma is absolutely captivating. Initially a rich, deep, jammy berry melange greets me. But it carries nuances found deep below the crust of a blackberry cobbler. The fruit and sugars melding deep in the oven creating that melange that is deeper and more complex than the individual ingredients could ever hope to be entrusted to supply. Finally a mild, floral honey note wraps it up like a bow.
The flavor begins with peanut butter and blackberry jelly, with the jammy fruit rising in intensity. It's absolutely decadent, but never cloyingly so. It really is big and bold, but approachable and subtle.
Mouthfeel is on the full side. No carbonation.
Overall, I might kill for this one.

On tap at Southern Grist. A very hazy/muddy reddish brown color with minimal to no head. Not too surprising given the intentionally low carbonation. Aroma was bright peanuts and jam - spot on. The taste followed the brewers' description nicely IMO. It opened with big peanut butter flavor enveloped in a restrained honey blanket. The mid and late palate provided a burst of blackberry jam, with the peanut returning for a lingering finish. Full bodied as per the style. Delicious.
