Pours a bright straw color. Completely clear and effervescent. Thick frothy white head dissipates steadily but stops with about a half inch of foam remaining on the beer. From there head retention is excellent.

Aroma has notes of smokey malts. Light notes of wheat come through with some light herbal hoppy notes.

Taste is super interesting - it is both incredibly light and drinkable yet complex at the same time. There are light malty notes - white bread and wheat - initially quickly overtaken with a strong smoky malt flavor. Light herbal hops come through on the back end. Ever so slight bitterness on the finish with a lingering smokiness.

Feel is light and drinkable. Vivascious carbonation. Semi-dry finish.

Overall this is first and foremost to my mind the perfect example of the post-revival grodziskie - hits every hallmark of the style, which should be expected since this is one of the examples that have since revived the style. How closely it relates to the original pre-war examples, who knows for sure. Second, this is just a really good beer - its so incredibly unique - complex yet somehow refreshing. A true experience for any beer connoisseur.

From the bottle, it pours a lightly hazy yellow golden color with a large white head that lasts and leaves lacing as you enjoy the beer. Definite scent of smoke in the nose. In the mouth, it is smoky and a bit of light malt. Nice!

Poured from 400mL bottle into a dimpled mug. Bottled on 12/21/2018.

Appearance: crystal-clear straw-colored body with a thin layer of frothy white foam atop. It's not bad, although it does have a bit of a macro-lager look to it.

Smell: nicely smoky with a light, sweet malt character underneath. It's not quite as heavy as a rauchbier; I quite like it.

Taste: lightly wheaty and just a little bit sweet, with a rich, earthy smokiness. This beer really appeals to me.

Mouthfeel: light body but with a big carbonation and a pretty solid creaminess, considering how light it is.

Overall: I love a good smoked beer, and this one does it well. I'm not much of a connoisseur of grodziskies, but I would definitely put a few of these away.

From the brown bottle with a lot listing date of 21.12.2018. Sampled on April 16, 2019. They recommend serving at about 37-41 degrees and mine is in that range.

Clear golden-yellow appearance with bubbly carbonation streaming up to the modest and slowly fading white head. Some unfiltered haze.

The aroma is at first grainy, grassy, and lemon-like with any smoked character in the background.

Light bodied beer.

The smoke shows up more in the taste but it is otherwise sweet and grainy but it ends clean and crisp.

Pours into a becker a very pale kind of straw color with a large blooming bone white head that never really settles,a nice rocky top to this.Light smoke and toasted wheat malts mainly in the nose,a slight shot of lemon is detected as well.A pretty underwhelming palate with toasted wheat malts and a smattering of smoke with a touch of sweetness in the back end.I knew this would be light and I think my other bottle will go great with some smoky kielbasa and cabbage later.Seems very food friendly.

-3.1% A pristine clarity, with a light barley-gold coloring has a feverish pitch of carbonation raging within. A soapy, dirty white head is fairly large upon the pour, well lasting and left a sloppy, spotty lace coating behind.

S: Spicy nose, sweet fragrance with a nice level of smokey wood, smoked meat and dried corn. Pleasantly surprised here on the smoke level.

T: The flavor followed suit with a nice of smokiness, bacon and smoked wheat. Leaves off the tongue with a nice silty ash touch. Dry smokiness that continues to grow in levels and respect. Flashes of sweet dried corn.

M: Crisp mouthful, lots of carbonation texture, a nice syrupy body has a good depth with a smooth doughy nature.

O: Overall at 3.1% this packs quite a wallop of smoke. By appearance I was expecting a euro-pale by its crystal clarity with little to no flavor. This makes for a good campfire beer during the summer that mingles with the smoky nature of the fire and outdoors and is truly crushable by abv% but does not skimp on the flavor. This is a solid good beer with an very good old world feel (over 700 yrs. to be exact).

Poured from the bottle into a pokal style glass.

Frothy and rich forming bleach white full head, easily three fingers maybe more in height, with fine bubbles. Eggy whip cream like top slightly, and a pale straw body color mixing with a touch of hued chestnut brown. Real beautiful looking light beer.

Aroma is just real enjoyable. Smoked wood notes, and a real cigar box like quality coming off the nose. Touches mildly hop herbal as well with a light sense of wheat and pils chewy character.

Real expressive palate. Light but earthy smoke tones, with a touch of herbal green almost minty like flavor. Crispy body with an excellent crackery finish, and almost champagne like brittle feeling. Aftertaste has wonderful woody oven baked bread qualities as well. A little touch of muted novocaine, but very small and not distracting. Lots of mineral rocky like textures and flavors also.

Great beer that really packs a lot of punch and flavor in such a low abv content. More please!

Looking cloudy.
Smelling of smoke, pines and belgian strong beers.
Tastes smoky and super dry with tannic aftertaste. Watery and a little soapy.

When opened though, it exploded all over my table and keyboard, leaving me with just about 150ml of beer.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Gushed a little bit on opening. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a two finger white head that dissipates rapidly, leaving good lacing. Aroma of wheat, lemon and smoke with a light smokehouse element. Flavor starts with slightly astringent wheat and hops, then develops a nice, savory smokehouse smokiness before finishing with stark smoke, almost like burnt paper. Light bodied with sharp carbonation. I'm on the fence with this beer. It delivers exactly what it promises, a very light wheat beer with smoky malt, and that smokiness has some very nice elements to it; meaty smokehouse and charry malt. Unfortunately the very light body leaves this smoke a little too exposed, giving the impression of breathing to close to a burnt object. It grew on me as I drank it, but I think smoked malts express themselves better with a robust malt base, like the Aecht Schlenkerla ales. Worth trying; it's an ancient and worthy style, but I wish the body was more flavorful.

L) The beer looks gorgeous, pours a very pale straw color that is incredibly clear. It has an outstanding head with great lacing.

S) The nose is prominently smoked malt, with a slight tangy spritz and some barnyard notes. There is some straw, grass, and graininess, and an ever so slight honey sweetness.

T) The taste is surprisingly mild. I don't have a ton of experience with this Grodziskies, but the ones I have had have had a pleasant lactic acidity to them. Everything in the nose is on the palate, but much lighter than anticipated.

F) The beer has a very light and crisp mouthfeel. Very refreshing and dry.

O) Honestly, the style isn't my cup of tea, but for what it is, this seems like a fine representation. I paired it with some liver pate and provolone crackers, can't complain at all.

Clear copper with a small white head. Good retention and spots of lacing.
Smells slightly sour, slightly smoky, rotten apples, honey, pear, biscuit, salinity, white pepper.
The taste follows the nose. A hint of mild smoke, slightly sour, honey, toasted biscuit, pear, sweet red apple. Tastes somewhat salty despite not being a Gose.
Light, but not watery. Good carbonation and mouthfeel for 4%.
A super unique but tasty beer!

Look: It pours straw with a full white head. Head retention if good.

Smell: It has an interesting combination of aromas that include smoke and oak with what and a low note of citrus.

Taste: Smoke is the most dominate element in the flavor with a bit of citrus and floral. There are low doughy wheat and oak elements in the back ground.

Feel: It has a light body with plenty of carbonation and a slight carbonic bite.

Overall, a very interesting beer, very like and mostly smoky.
