Can: Poured a deep black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of huge black chocolate notes with some residual sugar notes and nice floral coffee notes are also perceptible. Taste is a great mix of black chocolate notes with some residual sugar notes, some nice floral coffee notes with some vanilla and sweet pastry notes. Body is full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with no real apparent alcohol notes. Solid dessert stout.

On tap at The Blackback Pub in Waterbury, VT.

This one pours a very dark black, with a glossy sheen, with a very small head, and a bit of lacing.

This smells like very dark roast coffee, roasty, chocolatey, and just very black, with some light vanilla sweetness, and a big dark chocolatey base.

This is big and decadent. The coffee is done very, very well- it's the dominant flavor, but doesn't completely overwhelm or dominate, if that makes sense. There's some nice vanilla for a sweetness to cut through the coffee blackness. The base beer is good too, even without the added flavorings, as it's got a nice chocolate and nutty character to it.

This is medium bodied, and supremely creamy, with a soft level of carbonation. There is no hint of the ABV here.

I didn't get a chance to visit Foam this last trip to Vermont, so finding this on draft was a real treat.

Don’t know where I got this one. If it was from you, thanks for the brew!

From a bottle into a snifter

APPEARANCE: Black pour yields a half finger, medium looking tan head with lousy retention. Black body with no carbonation evident. Head quickly fades to a faint wisp and ring. A ring remains but no wisp or lacing at all. Decent color but lousy head.

SMELL: Lots of lactose sugar, bubble gum, vanilla notes and milk chocolate. Piles of milk sugar. Definitely a lactose bomb here.

TASTE: Lactose bomb for sure. Lots of milk sugar with milk chocolate, vanilla and bubble gum flavors at the swallow. Bolder finish of lactose, vanilla, milk chocolate, vanilla cream sweetness and bubble gum. Bold and lingering with a big dose of lactose sugar.

PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. A bit creamy on the palate, goes down fine and finishes a bit dry on the palate. Some lactose lingers.

OVERALL: This is too lactose heavy. The base beer is decently made for sure, but the overdose on milk sugar makes it a tough drink. The head is also lack-luster on this one. Fun to try but not something I’d jump at again.

Can courtesy of Wasatch. Thanks John!

Pours black, big head of off white/tannish foam with a vigorous pour, little lacing.

Smells of milk chocolate, bakers chocolate for bitterness, licorice.

Initially tastes like a chocolate milk shake with the sweetness, dark chocolate bitterness moves in, licorice flavour throughout though more apparent in the finish.

Not quite full bodied, lower level of carbonation, alcohol well hidden. A treat.

Thanks goes out to Satchboogie for this brew.

16 oz. Can

My first from this brewery.

Poured into a tulip a very nice dark brown color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger tan head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is pretty nice, malty, with some pretty nice chocolate/toffee, vanilla, licorice, slightly roasty. The taste is really nice, malty, really nice touch of chocolate/toffee, nice vanilla sweetness, licorice, nice little roastyness. Full Body, ABV is hidden very nicely, a pretty nice complex brew, still a sipper though. Overall, this is a very tasty brew. Glad to have gotten a chance to try it. I have a few other's from this brewery, definitely looking forward to trying them. Thanks Kyle!

Darkest brown shade of black. Just a very small and shortlived mocha head on the poor. No retention and no lacing.

No discernible smell, loads of dark chocolate and a lingering cocoa bitterness. Very smooth as well as a clean finish. Superb at hiding the alcohol content.
