Pours a dark chocolate with a big, active, foamy 3" cola tan head that compresses down with spotty lacing. Nose is very metallic - pennies, burnt sugar, fresh cut grass. Taste follows as expected - burned sugar, cocoa powder, cola, moderately bitter, lightly tannic finish. Mouthfeel is where this fell off slightly for me - very soft, smooth, and slick feel with only a touch of carbonation; my can did gush a bit, so perhaps that was to blame? Prefer this style crisper and lighter. Overall, however, a solid beer.

Pours an ebony dark with a tan head. Dark roasted malts aroma. Subtle sweetness with a hint of coffee and cocoa flavor. Moderate to thin mouthfeel with delicate carbonation. Overall, for a 4.8% dark lager, this hits all of the right buttons!

16 ounce can - $4.25 at Woodstock Beer Market in Woodstock, Georgia.

Canned on: 11/09/23

Appearance: Pours a very (very) dark brown, near black body with a decent-sized, foamy, light tan head. Modest lacing.

Smell: A thin trace of coffee, cola with light albeit well-incorporated notes of toasted sliced almonds, dark German bread, bakers chocolate.

Taste: Roasty, black bread with a blend of chocolate, nut-flavored coffee, cooked brown sugar, though minimal sweetness, just a little blip of caramelized turbinado. Subtly earthy, pu-erh tea hint with a scant bitterness. A bit of sweetness remains on the toasty-roasty, bitterish chocolate finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.

Overall: A rather likable lager. Swings nicely dark, like a schwarz, though more earthy and not nearly as clean.

L: Jet black body, 2 finger head that quickly settles.
S: Roasted malt; cola, nutty aromas, toast, a hint of coca.
T: Rich roasty sweet malts. Plenty of nuttiness, toast, faint citrus notes, hints of leather that bitters up the finish.
F: Smooth, moderate-high carbonation.
O: Superbly drinkable. Oh how I wish dark lagers would really take off, and I mean I want to be able to find a few different 6 packs at the grocery store. It hits all of the spots of a porter or stout without feeling like you’re drinking a meal. Just superb.

It's a little hard to rate this beer as there is so little to compare it to. It pours opaque molasses brown, it tastes way lighter than it looks, and it has almost no strong roast or coffee, just light notes of cocoa, toasted malt with a slight hop finish. It's a hybrid that is ok, but I'd rather have a cleaner lager or a more robust stout. This crossover for me just misses the high mark, it's enjoyable but not in a I'm buying more kind of way.

Pours a frothy brown almost 1 finger head with moderate retention, a bit of lacing, very dark brownish almost black color

Nose milk chocolate, cocoa, chocolate nougat, coffee, caramelized marshmallow, not quite char level but roast, very faint spices

Taste brings more chocolate, milk chocolate, cocoa, some roast and coffee, coffee and cream, a bit more of the nougat and roasted marshmallow, mild spicy hop in the background with a bit of roast bitterness as well, hint of baking spices, dry finish

Mouth is med bod, creamy, med to a bit higher frothy carb

Overall not bad, not actually sweet but a bit high on the "sweet" flavors and candy like, the roast and hops are good

16 ounce can.
Canned 11/16/22.

Moderate to vigorous pour yields a nearly two inch tan head over a black body with sticky lacing.

Nose of dark, roasted malts with a hint of chocolate as well.

Taste mirrors nose nicely with the chocolate (bitter & dark) coming forward quite a bit and finishing with bitter chocolate.

Feel is more than adequate for a lager.

Overall, quite a nice surprise from Foam as I think this is my first dark lager from them.
Seek this one out!
