Glass: Clear shaker pint glass
Price: $6.50
From: Lama Dog Tap Room & Bottle Shop in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Purchased: June 19, 2020
Consumed: June 20, 2020
Misc.: Canned on June 4, 2020
Went back to Lama Dog for some more Alvarado Street and Humble Sea. This one was called a, “Double dry-hopped with HBC 472, Mosaic and Motueka.” Obviously no idea what HBC 472 was, but a quick look and it looks like it was a sister hop to Sabro, one of my favorite hops with Mosaic.
Poured a golden hazy color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Couldn’t really see any bubbles underneath the haze. Excellent uneven foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled big Sabro-like qualities like cedar, tangerine and coconut. Also woody pine, Motueka, Mosaic, floral, lime, lemon, bubblegum, stone fruit, caramel and lemon grass. Just as good from the can with more Motueka and Mosaic than HBC 472. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste followed the nose. In order got Sabro-like qualities (it’s the HBC 472), cedar, coconut, woody pine, stone fruit, tangerine rind, Motueka, Mosaic, floral, lime, lemon, citrus pulp, bubblegum and grass. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Dry, citrusy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was about as good as I could hope for. Just an excellent New England Style beer. (Overall - 4.25)
