We initially matured this unique wild ale on Oregon Pinot Noir barrels. It was then moved into second use bourbon barrels with bing and lapin cherries from Hood River, OR, to provide tart and sweet flavors that marry with the mild oak and funkadelic yeast complexities.

500ml bottle served in a pair of WABL sample glasses. Vintage 2021. Bought it earlier today at the Beer Junction.

Pours dark purplish-ruby with a fairly large and lively head that eventually settles into a thick, foamy meniscus. With a light behind it, it's definitely translucent, but not exactly clear. Smell is gorgeous cherry, a little hint of vanilla, just a slight hint of wood.

Taste is jammy, cherry is there but it's a more general mix of berries and dark red fruit. Oak and vanilla are in there as well, but pretty muted. Very dry.

Mouthfeel is super dry, super light. Overall, very good beer.

Poured from 500ml corked bottle into a pilsner glass.

Appearance is a mahogany red-brown with a fluffy, peach colored head. Beer is slightly cloudy with active carbonation just visible through the haze. Good lacing, with a clear syrupy follow down the sides of the glass

Faintly vinegary, lactic nose with sour cherry backing. Hints of vanilla and a very slight charred back note.

Flavor is a citric bite opening with sour cherry and burgundy wine midway. Not picking up any bourbon but there is a light touch of oak. Also has that faint cola taste of a Flanders red.

Velvety texture mellows the tartness, with a full bodied weight that's not thick or syrupy.

500 ml bottle, ABV 7.4%, at People's, Arbeidersamfunnets plass, Oslo. Deep red colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of sour cherries, red wine, oak and farmhouse. Medium sour and complex flavour, notes of sour cherries and cherry kernels, marzipan, brettanomyces, lemons, red wine, red wine vinegar and oak, only a hint of bourbon.

On tap at The Beermongers.

A very dark red with a dense, beige head with excellent retention and lacing, this looks solid. The nose is excellent. A wonderful marriage of wine barrels, funk and fruit, the beer is vinous and rich, with a pronounced acetic and red wine vinegar note that's very well integrated with the cherry notes, deep, red and brooding. A little bit of vanilla, a dusting of cocoa, a moderately fruity pinot noir are all present along with a faintly sweet base Flemish red. The palate opens sour with a moderate acetic acid and mild lactic acid character. Fruity red wine vinegar which borders on balsalmic, thanks to the jammy and intense cherries, this is great. Nice skin tannins are present, along with.a little dark caramel, cocoa, vanilla and a mild funk. Drying yet jammy on the finish with a beautiful vinous character, this beer is excellent.
