Pours a hazed, but vibrant, yellow-orange with three fingers of long-lasting, off-white head. Soapy lacing.

Melon, pine, light citrus and white pepper show in the nose.

The flavor comes across a bit nutty at first, turning more pungent with green onion and weed as it warms. There's also some mild candied orange-malt sweetness and a little of the pine and pepper from the aroma. Moderate earthy, tea-like bitterness in the aftertaste.

Medium bodied with a slightly syrupy feel and some nice carbonation cutting through.

A decent beer. Love the look and feel. The taste is almost like an English-American IPA hybrid.

This is a very dank IPA with a nice balance but with a bitterness that temporally outlasts the malts and finishes with a very satisfying hoppy aftertaste. A very nice hoppy beer that is on the border between an IPA and a DIPA, which was intentional. A very tasty end result.

Went through a four pack and used various glassware, 2 bechers, a mason jar and a tulip. It all looked the same, smelled the same and tasted the same.
Here's my observations based on the tulip, since that was the piece of glassware I last had my last Alena in.
The appearance was a golden copper transparent color with a semi-rocky eggshell white foamy head. It swiftly dissipated to leave some messy sticky lace.
The aroma had some baked clean honey-ed biscuit malty base playing with a strong freshly cut grass, a clean sweet breath of spruce, slightly like wet spruce needles, then a touch of melon to kumquat sweetness. Bitter grassy hop leafiness bites at the end ever so slightly.
The flavor leads with the sweet nature of the hops (spruce/melon/kumquat) doing a stellar job of blending with the honey-ed malts. Semi-sticky honey to spruce/melon/kumquat aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine, somewhat low. ABV felt fine. Mild sticky malty honey to sprucy finish.
Overall, what a solid AIPA leaning towards a New England styled IPA somewhat. This is one I would come back to.

Gotta find a way to thank the good people at The Alchemist for brewing a beer for me, based specifically on what I enjoy most in IPAs. Someone in VT give them a shout on behalf of ManaupaMan when you're at the brewery. Love this beer.

Not sure what this beer looks like as I hit it straight from the can.

If this aroma was actually a song sung by a mythical Siren then my ship would be dashed to bits against the rocks. It's beautiful and it calls to me and I'm powerless against it - pine, crisp ripe citrus, resin and toasted malt. Nothing pungent or delicate (peach, melon, kumquat or whatever the fuck shows up these days). Pakalolo in the background.

Taste is right there - pine, papaya, grapefruit, pith, rind, resin - and a tasty and supportive malt base. Imbalanced balance at its finest.

Crisp, dry and the perfect level of carbonation (an Alchemist trademark). Awesome beer; so glad they made it for me.
