Crowler filled on 4/1/2025; consumed on 11/10/2025
Pours a dense, jet-brown body capped with two fingers of pale khaki foam; decent head retention leaves a slight layer of cap, minimal frothing of collar, and virtually no lacing holding with any longevity to the walls of the glass.
Aromas of brown bread meet brown sugar as fruitcake underpinnings carry a cinnamon/vanilla intermingling, leaving residual tinges of dark cacao on the back end of the bouquet.
Taste offers notes of dark cacao powder softened with a dark fruit inflection into a pinnacle of cinnamon swirl bread and a subtler black bread inflection.
Mouthfeel brings a medium body and a moderate-light carbonation; an airy char grazes the mid-palate into a slick-ish back end and deftly charry finish.
On the sweeter side, yet maintains a foundational doppelbock identity; while imperfect, the final product is ambitious and intriguing.
