LBDS starts off with the same long boil LADS base before being conditioned on Cacao Nibs from Exquisito Chocolates in Miami Florida graciously selected and shared with us by the JWB Team, our new house Kinetic Energy Blend Coffee that we worked on with our friends at Mostra (more below), Maple Syrup, Marshmallow, and a touch of lactose.

This one's a darker, more syrupy black than LADS, with essentially no head to conceal its bubbly tar surface.
At first seeming a little less sweet than LADS, and somewhat hot--almost spicy like cinnamon--it's also a little thicker, waxy, and sticky, with some numbing coconut marzipan, even though this isn't the coconut variant.
The sweetness builds over time, and since I can taste the coffee better in LADS, it translates as less balanced here. But hey, they're all pastry abominations anyway.

Pours very dark with a massive head that does not fade. tastes delicious. Aroma is massive chocolate, vanilla, and marshmallow.
Taste is sweet but not cloying, I get lots of vanilla and chocolate, the marshmallow and maple syrup flavors are very prominent as well. Thick and viscous, this beer has one of the most amazing bodies I have ever encountered. Overall an amazing imperial stout, has one of the thickest bodied I have ever had.

I enjoyed this more than b2lads but this is a very sweet stout (just like b2lads). Maple is nice and marshmallow isn’t overwhelming. I hope they drop a ba version of this in the future.

Too start I would like to say this beer is very sweet. If that is not your thing I understand this is something you would not enjoy at all. With that being said i really enjoy the big thick pastry stouts. especially Equilibrium's pastry stouts. Beer was served a little colder than room temp. split between three people and served in an 8 oz. tulip taster.
Look- Pours pitch black. Absolutely no light coming through on the pour, or in the glass. This beer pours out very very thick. It coats the glass with a heavy dark brown film. With our pours you have a small compact dark brown bubble head. Last note on the look as it poured it look like maple syrup being poured it was so thick.
Smell. The smell is the only thing I find to not be my favorite part of this beer. I understand this is a maple forward beer, but I literally only picked up maple. The fact EQ put a new blend of Mostra coffee into this I was very much looking forward to getting the coffee notes. Now I don't think this is bad it smells amazing. It smells like fresh, real, and natural maple syrup. I don't dislike the smell was just hopping for more of the coffee.
Taste- Not going to lie this beer has one of the most enjoyable flavor profiles I have had. It is full of maple, and the coffee. The marshmallow really shines as well. The first sip with the beer still a tad bit cold. Is pure maple syrup. It was rich fresh maple. The back end of the first sip was full of fudge, and bakers chocolate. As the beer warms it is full of marshmallow, and coffee. The coffee bitterness is very nice in this beer. As I stated this beer is very sweet, but I think the coffee choice was perfect. It really helped balance this beer. I really think next to normal LADS, this is the best stout EQ has released taste wise.
Feel- I'll keep this short and sweet. This beer is actually chew-able. This was super THICCC beer. This is what I like in my pastry stouts, so that's why it gets a 5.
Overall- In my opinion not better than LADS, but top tier EQ stout. The maple is a little overwhelming in the nose again this is the only down side to me, because the coffee really did a great job balancing out the sweetness in the taste. I loved this beer, The people i shared this with really loved it. Overall very enjoyable. I don't think its's better than LADS but still amazing. EQ killed it this past month. BA LADS is being opened this weekend thought to come soon.
