Collaboration with J. Wakefield Brewing and Mostra Coffee. We immediately put some of Batch 1 LADS’s thick and decadent base into bourbon barrels for a metamorphosis that has exceeded expectations. Following its time in barrels, we added shredded raw coconut, marshmallow, vanilla, and Ghost Bear Espresso Blend coffee from the 2020 Micro Roaster of the year, Mostra Coffee.

Poured from a bottle at fridge temp. Pours a VERY thick black with a very thin layer of brown head. I mean very thin. The nose is vanilla, marshmallow, milk chocolate, coconut, lactose, light maple, and maybe a very slight hint of coffee. My guess is this is going to be fairly sweet, but let's see.

The taste is rather fantastic. Cinnamon, vanilla, coconut, chocolate, lactose, slight bourbon, light coffee, molasses, prunes, raisins, and a touch of blackberry. Really nice integration of flavors. Definitely a pastry stout - although not too sweet at all. Just a lot of adjunct notes.

The mouthfeel is unreal. Super thick and gooey. Aftertaste is vanilla and chocolate.

On tap at the Equilibrium Brewery Bonfire Taproom in Middletown, NY. Batch 4 from 2023.

This is one dark and sludgy looking pour, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells very coconutty, with a creamy and toasted sweetness, lots of vanilla, a really pleasant fruity and caramelly coffee note, some light roast, and a touch of bourbon.

This is heavy duty pastry sludge, but I do have to give this some credit for still having an essence of barrel character. It’s gotta be because this was in barrels for about two years, as I do get some oak, caramel, spice, and a touch of bourbon. The coconut is the dominant aspect of the added adjuncts, but they’re all there and play well with each other. The coffee is wonderfully, sweet, chocolatey, caramelly, and lightly fruity.

This is very thick, right on the edge of syrupy, with a lower level of carbonation.

This was patently absurd but I enjoyed it a lot, still.
