King ALKing AL
Notes: King AL uses a mashed-up grain bill from MC² and Toppling Goliath’s King Sue before introducing Equilibrium’s absolute biggest dry-hop to date with an all Citra Incognito, Citra LUPOMAX, Citra Cryo and Citra T-90 hop bill. Pouring a milky opaque yellow with aromas of mango sorbet and orange creamsicle, we get chewy saturated flavors of tropical smoothie, fresh squeezed navel orange juice, dank grass, fruit salad in syrup and lime gummies with a thick and custard like creamsicle finish and a huge blast of EQjuice rainbow melon flavors. King AL is dangerously soft and smooth and may have you questioning the laws of physics, space, time or just how we got a melted orange creamsicle fruit bomb into the can.

No canning date, but from what I've seen online this was canned exactly a month ago.

L -- Super turbid, milky orange body with 2+ fingers of fairly dense white head. Good retention and great lacing. Looks very appealing
S -- Creamy, dank citrus dominates. Has that EQ house yeast character that is somewhat akin to Tree House but with a hint of what I can only describe as tartness. Perhaps a bit flat, and a little boozy as the glass warmed
T -- Largely follows the nose. Has a very similar hop profile to King Sue, but again with more of that EQ yeast character and a more oat-forward, creamier malt bill
F -- Soft and creamy, with a rush of oily bitterness that flies off the palate quite quickly
O -- Takes some of the best parts of King Sue and MC2, but can't say they really play off each other in a way that makes them better than either independently

L- Pale yellow/orangish hue that is turbid with a big soapy white head that holds very well
S- Tropical notes. Pineapple but mostly over ripe mango
T- Big mango bomb! No hop burn which is surprising. Not overly sweet or bitter. Very balanced.
F- Creamy and lightly carbed. Finished clean
O- Stellar beer! I tend to be critical of IPA's but this hit the spot.

Murky white peach body with a ring of bubbles that throws a few splotches of lacing on the wall. Nose is a wonderful mix of dank, herbal hop, tropical (including pineapple and mango skins) fruits, and some oat milk vibes.

The oat impression plays a bit much into the taste for my likes, though citrus fruit slices (including pith) join to help my enjoyment. On the heavier end, but bitterness counters slightly. Little hop burn as the beee warms.

Super creamy and dare I say, “smooth”, but I’ll admit I missed the prickly west-coast-ish bitterness of a TG beer here. Fruit forward with a kiss-of-honey sweetness in the absolute finish. Stops JUST shy of cloying. Lovely aroma. Appearance is perfectly opaque and bright yellow. Head retention was good, but not great. Overall a nice DIPA, and a fun one to try.

A - Medium to dark golden orange with thick, frothy bubbly lacing hanging out on top. The lacing is really sticky.

S - Intense dank citrus, orange, and orange creamsicle.

T - Follows the nose with intensity to match. Orange, orange shergert, orange creamsicle, citrus, passion fruit, peppery orange rind, and ends on the sweeter side with subtle citrus bitterness.

M - Thick mouthfeel that's pillowy soft and coats the mouth with a healthy layer of intense citrus that gives a cotton-like sensation.

O - This beer is really intense on the flavor side. Recommended.

16 oz can

Hops: Citra (lots of it)

Surprised at the high ratings. This beer is kind of a mess. Hop burn, they overdid it completely. It was a struggle to finish a can of this.

Pineapples, and mangos, and oranges oh my!! This stuff pours the most gorgeous opaque murky light yellow. Was there some dry-hopping involved here hahaha? Aromas are fruits and citrus all the way. Flavors are as mentioned initially and in spades. Ridiculously creamy and smooth mouthfeel and zero alcohol detected. Tried to drink this slowly and failed. Great collab!

Had it on draft and poured from a 32oz growler. Purchased at Dallas Craft Beer Cellar.

It pours beautifully looks excellent in a glass, aroma is there, lots of fruit citrus and tropical, dankiness, union, some bubblegum, slightly sweet but it's all balanced out right. Hops shine properly. Creamy chewy body and slight bitterness that comes through on the finish with some low amount of prickly carbonation. The finish lingers nicely a maybe a little dry.

I'd love to see some more collabs between these breweries.

First saw this when i received an email from Half Time. Looked really interesting to me as I like both brewers. My highest rated beer was a collaboration between Toppling Goliath and Tree House. I would think that this brew would be a similarly great collaboration. Was please to learn that it was available at Empire liquors. I walk into “the good beer section” of the cooler and I cannot find it. The beer guy walks in and points in me in the direction of the last 4 pack. It is mine!

Chilled can poured into a spiegelau ipa glass . Pale hazy honey colored liquid topped by a creamy white one finger foam cap , reduces to a thick layer and leaves some spotty lacings.

Aroma is orange citrus, faint whiff of mango

Taste is juicy orange citrus, cantaloupe, papaya, apricot, fruit salad, hint of lime

Mouthfeel is smooth, even, flavorful , low sudsing, hop taste, no bite

Good beer , recommended

Poured into a 13 oz Teku glass not sure when it was canned. Pours a hazy milky yellow with a half finger sticky white head that leaves plenty of thin lines of lace, with excellent retention. 4.75

Aroma cantaloupe, passionfruit, papaya, dragonfruit, and apricot. 4.5

Taste follows cantaloupe, passionfruit, papaya, dragonfruit, and apricot really balanced and awesome. 4.5

Mouthfeel is above average, not sticky or dry, soft gentle almost creamy carbonation, and at 7.9% loaded with tropical flavor but really easy going down. 4.75

Overall I trusted my BAs and went and found this. That is the main goal of this thread. Really a great beer experience. 4.5

Canned on 8/29/22; consumed on 9/21/22

Pours a turbid, baby food-orange body capped with just shy of two fingers of rich, white foam; decent head retention leaves a vague, paper-thin layer of cap, thin, frothy collar, and healthy spatter of soapy, webby lacing sprayed across the walls of the glass.

Aromas burst with a ripe, tropical overload, bringing guava, orange, grapefruit, and tangerine juice into subtle dankness with boggy resins interspersed; lemon gummies accent mango, while shreds of onion deepen an oncoming herbaceousness through the close.

Taste shows orange zest, guava, and juicy papaya upfront, with a slight onion interlude over the mid-palate easing to sweet malts countered late by a delayed, earthy prickle of resins and grass as onion continues to linger through notes of citrus zest on the finish.

Mouthfeel brings a body on the fuller side of medium with a subdued, moderate carbonation, leaving an almost soupy density and gritty resins for contrast; briefly taut through the mid-palate as a juicy build leaves a silky back end and finish.

A sampling of the purest variety across the hop spectrum; diverse, intriguing, and complete in expressing myriad tropical undertones atop a resinous, quasi-bitter base; a sippable coalescence for the hop-inclined senses.

The color is perfect. Golden sunflower honey sunshine yellow. Just how I like it. Minimal foam, which quickly disappears. The smell is strong. Mango, orange, papaya, and honeydew scents are clear. The flavor is a true hybrid of Toppling Goliath Brewing and Equilibrium Brewery at their finest. It has the electric butter of Toppling Goliath Brewing, with the mango candy of Equilibrium Brewery. It tastes like a sweeter version of King Sue. It is delicious. Flavors of mango, orange, papaya, and honeydew come through, just like with the scent. The mouthfeel is soupy, juicy, smooth, and full. The carbonation is light. Overall, this is a very delicious NEIIPA. One of the best.
