Received a 500 ml bottle as part of the Barleywine/Stout BIF#1 on 11-4-23 courtesy of mikexw. i believe this was bottled in 2023; consumed for review 2-23-25.
Beer poured black with no head until after the pour was done, not much carbonation.
Nose is very nice as medium roasted malts give forth a touch of chocolate. Coffee addition is more prominent than the Vanilla bean which surprisingly is still coming thru after 2 years. Finishes surprisingly balanced between the coffee and the hopping.
Mouthfeel is perfection! Wow, this is so silky smooth as the body is medium to large bodied.
Overall, a very nice beer to try, thanks so much Mike!

I didn’t realize this was a coffee beer when I grabbed it off the shelf. I’m a coffee hater. I do love the ultra dark color and syrupy like texture.
Notes of chocolate, vanilla and of course coffee. Just not a fan of coffee so I’m not a huge fan of this.

500 ml bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 12%. Pitch black colour, moderate but lasting creamy brown head. Aroma of roast malts, coffee, vanilla, chocolate and alcohol. Creamy, rich and warming mouthfeel. Rich and sweet flavour with the same elements as the aroma.

500 mL bottle from Beer Run in Harlem. Thick and slurpy, but I don't care for this particular coffee blend or how it interacts with the vanilla. It's good, but not great; I get dark stonefruit on the nose with light vanilla notes, but very earthy dark roast on the palate that clashes with the vanilla. A touch of fruity tartness on the finish that is a bit confusing.
