This was my first beer I had during my visit to the brewery today - a bit of a palate cleanser before the heavy stouts. It is a good representation of the Saison DuPont style saison. A bit sweet, spicy clove and pepper, and a pleasant yeast background.

It was poured from a snifter with a nice bright yellow color with good head and lacing. It had an nice herbal quality to it that I enjoyed. A bit underrated I believe.

Bought at The Good Hop in north Oakland.
This is a good saison for a malt-head.
As a partial aside, I'm not sure how this is a seeming collab with Jester King as they specialize in tarts and Wilds... but whatever, I'm flexible. And I'm glad when JK is flexible in the more traditional direction.

Check has interesting Looks; albeit not at the style's average for foam. Smells have some tree-fruit, but again about the standard. Tastes are a bit more sweetish complex, but balanced. Yet, most surprising was how the alcohol was hidden. In the mouth... I get sub-par bubbles, but an otherwise soft and rich mouth.

Weathered Souls has taken the difficult path of being good guys, but still largely appeals to the American palate with hops. The brewery is five years old and seems to be brewing better and better. So, I give them some pretty good OA Hugs.

Can courtesy of Frijoless.
Hazy orange. Fluffy head.
Nose and taste have the yeasty, earthy, spicy, citrus, banana flavors of a saison.
No sour, funk, or barn vibes. (For better or worse) Pretty clean. Almost 9% abv apparently.
* In a corner of the label it says Jester King but no elaboration to what role they played in this. It was some sort of collab I guess.
