A French inspired farmhouse style. Light, crisp body, spicy aroma from a special house strain saison yeast and the use of wheat. Dry finish.

At the Berkeley gastropub, I drank Maison side-by-side with Gilman Saison and it seemed to be the same yeast to me. I'm guessing that Maison had a different malt bill, probably more wheat as it was softer in my mouth. Very similar profile in the aromas, but the lemon was more pronounced in Maison; making it a better refresher. Although Gilman's Saison was my preference to eat with the Brussels sprouts and pizza, making it the better table ale. But both would be great with bread and cheese. Gilman Brewing has the saison yeast going well.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours orange yellow with a small white head. Smells of sweet wheat and fresh fruit. Tastes of sweet wheat, slight banana, and fresh fruit, especially grapes. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Cloudy yellow body with an eggshell white head and lacing. Banana aromas lead with rustic yeast, bright wheat, and baguette. Taste added lemon, the yeast is the star here just taking the drinker on a rustic and artfully bready journey, wheat is a fun backbone with the bright malts. Feel is bright, medium-light bodied yet full on the palate in such a delicate way, slight ester textures abound. Really enjoyed this, would be great on a warm late spring afternoon

Hard to pour because it has so much bubbles, but when you get it in your mouth you won’t be disappointed. Gilman continues to deliver.
