Bought from Beermiscuous. Despite having 5 ales from Afterthought, I am still shy of their tart. I never have bought into their label's "Old World Tradition, New World Twist" because the tart often seemed to twist too much. And confessions upfront, I am a Euro-saison head. So, I prefer Tradition over Twist.
But Auran indicates I should be less shy. Its tart character can be appreciated... even if it has too much character at the table. This is my complaint about Afterthought and Auran: I can't eat a simple meal; the ale wants to steal the show.
That said, I recognize Afterthought has a very dedicated following... after looking at UnTappd's stats. Almost four times as many UnTappd Ratings as Uniques. That is like no other brewer I can remember asking that question of.
As for Auran, it was a good pairing with a fatty cheese; the tart cut through it. As for Auran and a bowl of pasta with red sauce, one sip and I went downstairs immediately and I got a go-to Apex Predator. When red sauce is on the menu, sweet ale beats tart any day.

500 mL bottle.
Damn. Perfect aroma, bursting with lime and botanicals, slightly tart, fresh and juicy. Body hits perfect balance of all parts, straw, earth, lime, melon, light oak, tart, light acidity in finish. Perfect post run beer.
