We've used Double Daisy to examine every approach to savage hop extraction. As we careen toward 2023, Nelson Double Daisy Cutter stands tall inside the canon of Half Acre double down recipes. Nelson continues its reign as an art piece varietal that can flash all kinds of traits. Big papaya, sweet vanilla, citrus curd, down under pine, and the ever strong 'WTF is that' quality that gives Nelson a leg up in your life. Layer in the calculus a of big-scale recipe making with that billowy, cotton ball mouthfeel and you're off. Nelson DDC is available through December in the brewery shop and on all the usual places you buy our beer.

Went back to Windmill Farms because I forgot to buy this beer the night before, even though I wanted to. Half Acre’s website called this “We’ve used Double Daisy to examine every approach to savage hop extraction. Poured a medium golden hazy color with five fingers of rocky white head. Could see plenty of thick bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. World-class foamy spiderweb lacing. Perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)
That Nelson smelled great. Specifically peach cup, tangerine, orange citrus, papaya, orange creamsicle, vanilla, gooseberry, floral, dank weed, resin, pine, pineapple and hints of banana. Got better as it warmed. Just as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted almost as good as the nose with the same flavors. In order got Nelson, peach cup, tangerine, orange citrus rind, citrus pulp, papaya, orange creamsicle, gooseberry, vanilla, floral, dank weed, resin, pine, pineapple and lingering peppery spice. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long, citrusy finish. (Feel - 4.50)
This was a very enjoyable beer. Glad I grabbed a can. (Overall - 4.25)

Can. Says Nelson sauvin and falconers flight.
Super hazy orange sunset. Beautiful beer. White head with lace.
Pretty bitter. Some tropical notes with citrus. Pineapple and mango. Piney with a little resin and dank underneath. Floral. Bready malts.
All around a really solid beer. Great flavor, great bitterness. Not like a hazy.

16 ounce can into a tulip snifter. Canned 11/16/22, had 1/2/23.
Pours a hazy yellow orange, with a one and a half inch foamy head with very good retention and a good amount of foamy lacing. Aromas of grapefruit, orange, malt, some pine white grapes. Has a bit of an herbal aroma. Flavors of orange, grapefruit, pine, malt, light white grapes, a decent amount of citrusy hop bitterness, papaya as it warms. Has a light herbal flavor. Smooth, fairly dry, a very good lighter medium body, well carbonated.
The Nelson Sauvin hops show well among the citrus hops. Like the strong hop bitterness for a hazy. A terrific variant, very enjoyable.

Canned 11/15/22 (7.5 weeks ago)
Appearance: Pours a completely hazy (5% clarity) medium to deep yellow-orange color with a strong white head. SRM of 8-9. (4.25)
Aroma: Moderate aromas of some grapes, berries, melons. Somewhat resinous and malty. (3.75)
Flavor: Moderate flavors of grapefruit citrus, pineapple, then some stronger grape, melon, and berries. A deep tangerine and peach mixed in with a smooth malt body. Light piney bitterness, but ultimately sweet on the finish. (4.00)
Feel: Medium-bodied, average carbonation, and finishes heavier and malty, leaning sweet. (3.75)
Compared to Hop Butcher Only Interested in New Zealand 1/8/2023: Pours darker, similar head. Milder aromas. More melon, berries, peach. Less grapefruit, pineapple, grapes. Winner: Hop Butcher
Compared to Toppling Goliath Fire Skulls and Money 2/2023: Pours darker, milder head. Milder aromas. More melon, berries, peach and resinous flavors. Less grapefruit, grape, gooseberry, orange citrus. Winner: TG
Overall: A decent on here from Half Acre. Admittedly I'm not a huge fan of their Daisy Cutter and I thought their double Daisy Cutter was a mess. I thought this one might rescue it a bit. It has some glimmers of hope with the grapefruit, and grape flavors, but ultimately still has that overly sweet Double Daisy Cutter cloying thickness to it. Enjoyable, but I think I'll stay away from these Double Daisy Cutters. (Rating: 3.88)

I am in no ways a fan of Nelson hops but this one takes the cake, I could drink this one all day. A bit different than their regular daisy cutter but who cares. Outstanding imperial hazy in it's own right.

Pours a bright dense hazy orange with two fingers of foamy just off white head.
Aroma ripe citrus, tangerine, dank, resin, tropical and a touch of earthy hop and green grape.
Bright sweet citrus, tangerine, guava, dank - earthy hops, hint of piney resin and just a touch of white wine and melon.
Crisp yet full mouthfeel - moderate carbonation - fruity and sweet.
