Hoppy oak fermented and aged oat/wheat saison in a slightly more american/tropical vibe than most of our more herbal stuff, think green strawberries and melon.

Pours a lightly hazy golden, nowhere near like hazy ipa range, more like a chill haze. Lemon, lemon verbana on the nose. Definitely has some lemon character, maybe a touch of cedar. It has a gentle carb that is to say that the bubbles are small. Acid feels restrained on my palate but not on my teeth. Maybe a touch of corn flakes on the finish.

750ml bottle poured into Durobar Charente glass with SP white light bulb logo.
bottled 09/02/2020; drank 01/23/2023.
Appearance: translucent golden bodied beer with a bone white fluffy head. The head dies out fairly quickly. Not much lacing that is clinging on to the side of the glass.
Smell: Smells like I am in a barn with all the hay aromas wafting off this beer. Hint of citrusy tartness and definitely some wildflower honey aromas as well. Fruity yeast and herbal and flowery hops. Great nose.
Taste: Nice hay & straw type flavors from the malt profile with a distinct wildflower honey flavor which compliments the malts very well. Very subdued / light tartness. Oak notes are mingling about here as well. This saison even tastes light & clean. There is a melon or a berry flavor going on here as well. Lightly bitter earthy, floral, and herbal hops provide additional complexity & a light lingering bitterness that moves into the finish. This has huge complexity going on here and this is an incredibly delicious saison.
Mouthfeel: Tart, but not at all acidic. Crisp and clean; yet a little bit of light & soft texture which I assume is from the oats used to brew this beer. The texture of this saison is really well done. Incredibly drinkable saison.
Overall: I would classify this under predominantly a rustic ( "old school") saison with a hint of light tartness ( "new school") saison or more of an American style saison if you prefer to call it as such. I believe this is my first non-fruited Floodlands saison and I have been absolutely wowed by this saison. I would love to drink this beer on a regular basis.

Barely foggy straw yellow with a short fuzzy white head settling to a bubbly film.
Funkier, woodier, and nuttier than I recall the only other Floodland I've had--and better for it--the complexity here is more impressive than I was expecting. Dusty walnut accented by apricot apple cider gives way to a uniquely compelling strawberry note. As it warms, a delicate funk of hay develops within the very mild acidity.
The fluffy medium-light body finishes semi-dry.
---
The 2022 vintage, which I enjoyed at DLD 2023, also exhibited an enjoyably complex funk, much like the 2020 (reviewed above), thus my review remains the same. Absolutely delicious!

Pours pale yellow crystal clear liquid, with a nice little soft white cap that slowly settles into some soapy bubbles before continuing down to be little more than some galactic swirls.
Nose is tart and rich with a little bit of fruity undertone. Some nice light barnyard funk, before it is re-subsumed into the brightness from the hops yeast and oak.
Flavour has a little tingle on the finish, and a rash of acidic funk about two thirds of the way through, but it is also crisp and refreshing and carries that same bright vivacity of oak and hops mentioned on the aroma. I honestly keep having to remind myself that this bottle did not touch any grapes, because it's got a bit of bright white wine feel to it as well, with the slightly juicier/more fruity influence from the hops paired with the oak.
Very smoothe and drinkable and quite enjoyable on a hot hot summer afternoon, this is another conspicuously masterful creation from these guys.
Cheers!
