At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned February 21/25. My 6th beer from the Chatham, Ontario brewery, and 5th for 2025. Admirably admired by Sundae the cat...

I bought a can from the brewery 473ml at 4.5%. Flywheel Lager
Poured a 1finger head into glass that quickly disappeared and then left no lace
carbonation was slow looking almost flat .
It feels like it's watered down .
Overall below average.
Cheers.

473 mL can from TBS; dated Mar 14 2018 and served slightly chilled. The second of three beers from this new-ish Chatham brewery that are currently available in Sarnia.
Pours a mostly clear, pale golden-blonde colour, producing about one finger's width of loose, bubbly white head that fizzles into oblivion within 90 seconds. A narrow collar of soapy foam remains, but that's about it. The aroma is fairly neutral, which is not unheard of for a blonde ale; there's a touch of graininess, but I'm mostly getting doughy bread, accompanied by minor hints of wet hay and honeyed sweetness. Maybe a touch of apple skin in there, too; kinda dull, but also clean.
The same can probably be said of its taste. Bready, doughy, wheaty pale malt sweetness is definitely the most noticeable aspect; again there may be a weak hint of apple in there, it's largely dominated by clean malt flavours. A brief flash of grassy hay rounds off the back end, which then concludes with some fading cereal grain sweetness. Light in body, with moderate carbonation levels that soften considerably over the course of the glass, causing the mouthfeel to start off crisp before becoming progressively smoother/softer. Extremely drinkable - while this is (like nearly all blonde ales) a pretty mundane beer, it is also exceptionally easy to knock back.
Final Grade: 3.41, a B-. Not bad, but not all that great either, Flywheel Blonde isn't anything too special, but it still has its place. Keeping in mind that this style is meant to be mild, simple and quaffable - all of which can be used to accurately describe this beer - I can't be too harsh on it. In fact, this is the sixth can I've had in the past few weeks, so it's not as if I dislike drinking the stuff. Scanning over the Sons of Kent portfolio on their website, it's pretty clear that this is meant to be their "everyman" session option - anyone who enjoys pale lagers, even exclusively, could probably drink this blonde without much fuss.
