Among tart saisons, this is quite good. Among table saisons, not quite that good... merely good.
I'm thinking I need to develop a different rating criteria to compare tart and table. Here is my start.
Looks are clear, then clouds up in the second glass; too little foam even among tarts. Smells are mostly the brett and barrel interestingly working on the malts to produce tree fruits, like apples and pears. Tastes also are interestingly balanced in that they never give a glimmer of sweet and by the finish is dry. Quite possibly a lack of bubbles in this medium-to-light 4% mouth. I will save a glass for the table.
I noticed that Hacienda opened a gastro-pub in Milwaukee's renewed Eastside neighborhood. The menu was largely limited to sophisticated, thoughtful bar food; lots of fried and grilled plates. All three of their saisons I've had would cut through the oils and clear the palate. So, Hacienda is brewing for their table. Some Hugs for that and helping finish Eastside's revitalization.
