Very Good
Notes: Villeinage is our modern Table Beer hopped with Pacific Jade from New Zealand at a staggering rate of 3 pounds per barrel. A warm fermentation encourages our house saison yeast to produce invigorating stone fruit, banana, and bubblegum aromas that meld spectacularly with the bright & bold citrus hop characteristics. Bone dry, effervescent, and endlessly drinkable.

Hops: Pacific Jade

Grist: Pilsen, spelt, wheat

Hazy pale corn milk yellow with a tall soft white head settling to an airy, bubbly high ridged collar.

Taste has a tangy bright sort of farmhouse expression to it I'm having trouble placing. It's mildly bretty, grassy and semi-bitter, with a faint biscuit malt and an accent of citrus rind.

The medium-light body has an airy, expanding froth that comes to a semi-dry finish.

An excellent table saison. Dry. Distinct. A lot goes on in this ale. Bought from Tavour.

I get a big-bubble head, but it goes away and not as much swirling protein as the classics. Smells offer lots to sort out, probably too much for me; but still a wonderful fruit medley ranging from hard tree fruit to the tropics. They use spelt and wheat and the twist works with their yeast. Tastes follow, but mid-palate becomes dry quickly and finishes that way. Dryness aside, Villeinage is modest in the mouth; which is good at the table. Enough bubbles to cut through a thick red sauce and pasta, yet modest enough to let the sauce's flavors work.

As for my brewer review.... I want more from these guys. A nearly great debut in my book. Very thoughtful approach to brewing with the blending being a key part. A young brewery, but you would never know it. The only mistake in Villeinage that I can discern is that I did not buy two. I will look for their saisons again.

Lovely pale yellow body, cloudy pastel; thick, sticky, sculpted white head. Nice herbal and floral aroma with a hint of cereal grains; very soft lemon. Well-blended, light flavors of lemon and biscuit; mild white pepper; mild bitterness. Light body but with a soft bite and crispness; faint tartness; some juiciness but comes across as dry overall.

A well-crafted, low ABV table beer delivering fine taste and mouthfeel to the palate. It's rustic and subtly flavorful. The colors are magnificent, too. This beer makes a fine summer thirst quencher.

Poured from 16oz tall can into a tulip.

Appearance: medium yellow hue with plenty of haze; head is a thin finger of frothy white foam. Not too bad.

Smell: a nice, light farmhouse funk with just a touch of astringency and a nice dose of grassy, minty hops. I really rather like it.

Taste: oh, this is quite lovely. It's light and subtle, but there's enough sweetness to complement the mild funk, and the minty, fresh hops add just a very nice little finish. I like it.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a good level of carbonation and a nice creaminess.

Overall: this is one ludicrously refreshing beer. I could drink pint after pint of this in the right setting. Great!

Cloudy bright yellow with decent carbonation and a huge white head. Smell has a lingering funk that is so rewarding, pairs wonderfully with the bright dry hops, banana, flowers, lemon zest, and grass. Taste follows, funk grows as it warms, starts more sharply with melon rind, dry hops, spelt, lemon zest, and grass, before transitioning to light and sneaky juicy lemon, flowers, banana, and peach, before a crisp grainy finish. Great debut
