375ml corked/caged bottle served in a wineglass. Batch #6, though the handwriting is hard to read. Bought it at Chuck's Hop Shop last night.
Pours clear purple-pink, big frothy head on the pour, pretty good retention, holding on to a couple millimeters thickness in the middle. Smell is jammy, a little yeasty funk and a little bit of mild earthy/spicy. But jammy is definitely predominant.
Taste is much tarter than I expected. Definitely in the tart berry zone (not sure what tayberry tastes like), still pretty jammy. Funk/farmhouse yeastiness is gone in the flavor, or at least almost gone. Maybe a hint of oak. I've never seen a raspberry soda, but this is moving in that direction.
Mouthfeel is super light, clean, dry. Overall, this is really good.

Not sure I have ever had a tayberry before but they are fucking solid in this funky, tart farmhouse.

batch 4. this is absolutely stunning, a gorgeous ruby red fruity and funky saison type that just radiates summer perfection, the ideal mix of fruit and funk, the finest quality, mature as can be, and very affordable for what it is, i will pick up another flavor or two in this series when i can. amazing color on this, complete saturation of the purest red, a little hazy, but with a medium height airy belgian looking head on it barely stained a little pink, really pretty. aroma is mouthwatering immediately, red raspberry at the peak of ripeness, a little blackberry sweetness (tayberry of course being a cross between the two), and a lot of bretty funk, juicy more than beer perhaps a bit, but there is some wheat on this grounding it, and a vinous element that adds a lot of intrigue. the flavor is incredible, totally fruit driven, but there is enough from the fermentation to hold my attention, and while i do think its closer to raspberry than blackberry here, its also decidedly neither of them, and that makes this attention holding too. the funkiness is killer, mature and interesting, very wild to me, subtle citrus acidity too, but this is funk way in front of sour. there is some sweetness from the fruit, enough for it to be fully itself, but its also dried out really nicely in the finish, and there is a certain authenticity to this that a lot of the new school fruited sour stuff is missing for me. really exceptional beer, cant wait to try the others in this little series of fruited farmhouse beers!
