Handsome clear copper color brew with long-lasting foam in the Stella Artois goblet. Pleasant nutty and musty flavor. NIce mouthful of frothy brew. Just slightly sweet with roasted grain with a moderate bitter aftertaste. Tangy finish with some fruity notes. This is more of an English style and is certainly better than the average Amber Ale. This has held up remarkably well for being a year old. From the 16 oz can dated 08/27/2024.

Wonderful dark red coloration, not hazy or cloudy. Hints of caramel and roasted malts. Balanced taste, not too bitter, imagine an average ale. The carbonation is just right to session, with a rougher finish in the back. Overall a very tasty beer that pairs well with Rye bread and Cheeses.

Taster pour at Hops & Bottles. Dark amber pour, scant head but lots of lacing. Sweet malty aroma, toasty, caramel. Taste is sweet, malty, toffee with a drying finish.

16oz can served in an E9 wineglass. Can is dated 05/06/2022. Got it through a local CSA.

Pours a dark amber color with about an inch of fluffy head that settles into a thick creamy layer. Lots of active carbonation. Smell is nutty, toffee, honey sweetness, a little toasted bread.

Taste is along the same lines - nutty, toffee, honey, toasted bread, but with a mild roasty bitterness that balances nicely.

Mouthfeel is smooth, light, hint of creaminess. Overall, this is a very good amber for my money.

also made out of the original location without the "&" in the name apparently, but i could be wrong, just happy to be seeing some draft from these guys in the boise market. this one is a little raw for me, a sturdy and relatively true to style amber as they go, at least so it seems at first, but its a little rough around the edges, hazy and fuller, hoppy beyond the norm, and decidedly modern despite it being just labeled as a conventional amber. it has all the sweetness, neutral yeast, and brick red color of the classic, but there are also piney hops to this that pack enough bitterness to push through the malt richness, which seems tempered once the hops kick up. its fuller bodied and even heavy with some temperature on it, a well made beer sure, but more for the recipe this time than for the execution, which is short of sloppy but definitely less than so many of their other beers, especially the ipa types i have been fawning over and the wild ones, which remain the best of their work. i guess i was never going to be floored by an amber, but its a good one in theory, the refinement just isnt here for me, and while i like the beer, especially with rich and spicy basque chorizo and crusty bread, it leaves a little something to be desired. i wont let this slow down my fanboy train for these guys though, i remain a loyalist and beers like this are part of the reason why, i appreciate it being a little different way more than i am upset that its obviously less than perfect...
