batch one, cool brew, tart and funky too, not as acidic outright as some of their others have been, and with a really unique fruit profile with all these berries coming together, although i reckon its still pretty raspberry forward overall. pretty pink color to it, jewel toned and relatively clear, fizzy like a soda but not holding onto its head real long. mouthwatering nose, puckery from the berries and the bacteria together, bretty too, very mature, seems like this spent quite a lot of time on oak, there is a wine character to it as a result, and the jammy character of the blackberry and boysenberry comes out more and more as it sits, but still seems more tart than sweet. the flavor is similar, tangy raspberry through most of it, a simple grain base that must include some wheat, and then the richer darker berries later on, all very natural and quite robustly dosed, but there isnt much residual sugar here which is impressive. the bretty funk is nice, well established, and although behind the bacterial acidity, adds the needed wildness to this, makes it farmy, and gives it some intrigue beyond the fruit. lighter in body and lots of bubbles. overall another exceptional fruited sour and funky beer from these guys, who continue to be one of the best in the region. downright delicious!

500ml corked/caged bottle served in a E9/Zwanze day tulip. Bottle is batch #1, doesn't seem to have a date on it. Left a substantial amount in the bottle for the initial pour to avoid any sediment that might be in there.

Pours a very clear, pretty, dark purplish-red with a fairly small head that settles into a perfect ring of head with a perfectly round little island almost exactly in the middle. Almost no visible carbonation. Smell is rich tart, jammy, oaky.

Taste is quite tart, again very jammy, berries that I cannot specifically identify. Something that reminds me of grape must, green or stemmy, a kind of fruit skin bitterness.

Mouthfeel is very light, clean, dry. Overall, this is really good.
