This one pours a fairly dark black, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like dark chocolate, vanilla, some sweet caramel, with some herbal and roasty bitterness.

In today’s day of super high ABV and super thick barrel aged stouts, something that’s 10% like this almost feels like a session barrel aged stout, which is obviously ridiculous, but it’s where we are. There’s lots of chocolate here, and some good but not too intense barrel characteristics. The barrel gives off mostly oak, with some vanilla and caramel. It’s well done, complex, but fairly approachable for the style.

This is medium bodied, creamy, and not too thick, with very little booziness.

Marlowe is certainly one of the better breweries in New York state, and I feel like people don’t talk about them that much.

500ml Gold Wax bottle. This is actually a blend of Willet Pot Still and EC 8yr.

Pours with a 0.5 finger mocha head that dissipates quickly. Beer is pitch black but thin. Thin mocha legs too. Nose is booze, chocolate, cocoa powder, and roasted malt. Moderately aromatic. Beer opens coca cola, milk chocolate, loads of barrel and booze. Some hints of tobacco, oak, and sweet soy sauce in the middle. More molasses and milk chocolate at the end. Boozy with a nice, simple and balanced flavor profile. Body is medium with moderate to low carbonation. Some bubbles on the palate and goes down boozy with a lingering aftertaste.

This one's solid but the body is a touch thin.
