Mixed Culture Foeder Saison brewed with 1886 New York Pilsner malt, oats, wheat and rye; hopped with Saaz and NY-grown Crystal. Fermented slowly with our house saison yeast blend and matured in one of our American Oak Foeders for several months before being transferred to stainless for another 4 weeks of conditioning.

Lovely saison, balanced, really enjoyed it. No significant tartness, more of a dry saison. Complex features and High quality execution Can from Hops Hill.

Drowned Lands seems to be a pretty commonly available brewery on Tavour. I’ve had a few of their beers so far and thought they were mostly good. A low abv mixed culture fodder Saison seems like a pretty good way to end my night, so let’s crack it open and get into it

Pours a cloudy deep gold with a finger of soapy white head that quickly fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing

The tartness and funk in the nose are quite gentle, and though I prefer a more assertive funk in the style, it actually works really well in this beer. I'm picking up on aromas of lemon zest, wet hay, earthy wheat, mango skin, banana bread, rye spice, wildflower honey, and light orange marmalade

Though even less funky in taste, I still find myself enjoying this one a lot. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting earthy wheat, banana, lemon zest, wildflower honey, clove, doughy malt, light orange zest, and blueberry. The swallow brings notes of earthy wheat, lemon zest, bubblegum, tart blueberry, wet hay, banana bread, grassy hops, and light clove

A light body pairs with aggressive carbonation, resulting in beer that is simultaneously fluffy and crisp. Finishes mostly dry and earthy

I really dig this one. It's super drinkable, I could drink a lot of this if it was more readily available

Aroma is slightly funky and slightly sharp, along with notes of honey, flowers, hay, oak, and tannins.

Softer and sweeter on the palate, lacking any of the complexity of the nose save for a hint of Brett. It's an easy drinking and lovely light beer, and the amount of flavor for such a low ABV is pretty nice.

Pours stark straw with no head and very little carbonation. Lots of lemon on the nose. Not a lot of typical saison notes but it has a very crisp finish.

On-tap 11/6/2021 at Bayberry Beer Hall in Providence, RI, served in a snifter glass.

A: The beer is a light yellowish gold color, with a large white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains Belgian yeast, bananas, citrus, light caramelized malts and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out with a burst of sweetness from flavors of bananas and citrus that are quickly followed by a hearty but not too heavy malt character and Belgian yeast backbone. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a very good balance. The after-taste is bready and slightly sweet.

M: Smooth and very crisp, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is very clean.

O: Very tasty, goes down very easily, not filling at all, mild kick, very good representation of style. This is a very nice Saison to drink for a long time.

No can date
Pours a large frothy foamy almost 2 finger had with good retention, a bit of lacing, very clear pale golden color

Nose brings some nice tart sourness and lemony fruity funk, some Brett funk and a bit of tart acidity, light oak, light malt, grassy straw and a bit of cereal notes, with some phenol spices, fruity esters bring citrus and some tree fruit

Taste brings more mild tart funk, Brett barnyard funk but light, more farmhouse saison funk, tart lemony funk, more straw and a bit grassy malt hay character, fruity esters bring citrus lemony, a bit of tree fruit, fair phenol spices, touch of bitterness, drier finish and not actually flemmy,

Mouth is med to lighter bod, high fizzy effervescent carb, tart but not flemmy somehow

Overall not bad, nice saison characters, nice Brett like funk and tartness, plenty of fruity esters, phenols, some tart acidity without a lot of flemmy finish, nice

16oz. can into a Founders snifter.

Beer is a crystal clear fluorescent yellow with a coarse white head that collapses. No lace. Nose is pear, lemon zest, peppercorn, and coriander with some floral and spicy notes. Moderately aromatic. Beer opens peppercorn, straw, and coriander. Floral in the middle mixed with hints of lemon zest and citrus. Foamy with a touch of creaminess at the finish. Very drinkable. Body is light with ample carbonation.Prickly and lively on the palate and goes down crisp, dry, and refreshing. Super drinkable.

Drowned Lands is turning out some of the best non-barrel aged saison's out there today!

Poured from an undated 16 oz can, into the test glass.
A - Lite straw color, a bit hazy. Gentle carbonation moves topside coalescing into a thin white ring.
S - Mixed culture up front, with citrus forward portfolio. Orange peel, kumquat, then sweet grain, wheat, a spicy element maybe from rye? There is a bit of oak treatment, that adds some earthy elements.
T - Here it runs a bit thin, with again the mixed culture and maybe the hops tiliting to the citrus side, with lemongrass, toasted wheat, orange reduction, with an earthy thread from the Foeder treatment.
M - Medium in body, slick, with more carbonation it could really pop. Finish is sweet, linger is tropical
O - A good mixed culture treatment, I like that aspect quite a bit. The Foeder softens the offerings texture. I understand and appreciate the craft displayed in this fine saison

yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that left some lacing on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of oak from the barrel aging are present in the nose.
T: The taste has lots of flavors of oak along with hints of floral hops.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This saison is very easy drinking but has dominant aromas and flavors of oak from the barrel aging.
