Based on the first Double IPA we ever brewed at Drowned Lands, Photo Synthesis. Since that first DIPA, we’ve dialed in our processes and refined our techniques. We made a few tweaks to the recipe as well, to bring an extra soft beer that is still packed full of tropical flavor.
Brewed with a base of Pilsner malt, raw and malted wheat wheat, then layered with some Vienna, and flaked oats for added depth. Hopped in the whirlpool and dry hopped with Pacific Jade, Cashmere, and Citra. The resulting beer is soft, juicy, and lush.

Poured into a 13 oz Teku glass not sure when it was canned. Pours a very attractive hazy orange yellow with a 2 plus finger sticky white head that leaves a wall of lace with amazing retention. 4.75
Aroma is pear, orange, white grape, honeydew, and apricot. 4
Taste follows pear, white grape, honeydew, and apricot. 4
Mouthfeel is above average, maybe a tad sticky, fairly gentle carbonation, and at 8.2% it is loaded with flavor. 4.25
Overall I like it, not something I will grab again unless I start to see improvement the next time I get another beer from them. 4

This one pours a very hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like candied pineapple, sugar cookie maltiness, weed, berry juice, grapefruit, and mango.
This is definitely a little bit sweet, but not in a wholly bad way. There's a touch of malt character but it's not overwhelming, with a wonderful sweet pineapple, mango, and grapefruit hoppy character. There's a touch of weedy bitterness, but I'd want a bit more bitterness, to be honest.
This is light bodied, soft, and creamy, with no hint of the booziness.
I like that Drowned Lands does very good hoppy beers, but also really leans well into traditional styles.

Pours a hazy dull orange with a billowy runaway head and a lot of lacing.
Smells of floral piney hops and sweet fruit.
Tastes of sweet citrus, pineapple and mango. There is the mildest of bitterness to the finish.
Medium light body with light carbonation. Light smooth mouthfeel.
This is a very drinkable mild mannered fruity NEIPA. Folks who find IPA's too bitter should like this one.

Tall can, no canning date, purchased at the source a few days ago.
Full on, hazed up NEIPA pour, frothy off white cap, leaves ringed lacing and fields of fine stick.
Fresh, ripe and fruited up sniff, with melon, pineapple and mango coming to mind.
Full on fruity flavor overload, melons, pineapple, mango, kiwis, peaches, lemon/lime....mighty fine...well worth seeking out.

Poured from undated can (released one week ago) into a Spiegelau IPA glass. It pours a cloudy, tangerine color with an enormous, fluffy, milk-white head and lots of soapy lacing. On the nose there is earthy malt, lemon peel, ripe melon, and floral hops. It's vienna malt-forward and quite sweet with notes of lactose and oats. As the glass warms there is more fruit: lemon, tangerine, and ripe cantaloupe. The Pacific Jade hops provide a slightly bitter finish. The mouth feel is soft and pillowy with mild carbonation and the 8.2% ABV provides a lot of substance. Overall, this is a hard DIPA to describe: it's quite sweet but lacks bold fruit or hop bitterness. It is, however, highly drinkable and I would recommend it to accompany savory food.

No canning date (released on 6/13/20, so presumably canned within a few days of that date)
Pours a hazy dark golden orange body topped with multiple fingers of rich, rocky white foam; great head retention yields a finger of craggy cap/collar along with a comprehensive layering of webby, ringed, soapy lacing strewn around the glass.
Aroma features a plush melding of lemon juice and apricot nectar upfront before embracing a wheaty malt backbone lingering alongside vivid tones of fresh-cut grass integrated into the middle; juicy papaya and dank blueberry are subtle on the finish, while a slight hit of booziness pronounces itself at the close.
Taste opens with a brief suggestion of dank strawberry cream followed by more pronounced tones of mushy peach; a dense crackery malt proceeds along the mid-palate into a grassy mango sorbet, lemon zest, and boggy tropical fruits on the finish.
Mouthfeel shows a medium-light body with a taut, fluffy moderate carbonation, remaining soft and drying over the mid-palate plush effortlessly until a zesty bitterness finally seeps into the close alongside a subtle, juicy burst and vague alcohol presence.
A touch too pillowy for its own good, this one is soft and easygoing in every aspect, yet ultimately feels largely undefined, incomplete even; though there's nothing inherently wrong, it lacks the intensity of hop expression to make it memorable.
