Pours a crystal clear pale straw color with a sudsy white that provides a little cap on the body of the beer.
The nose includes cereal grain, some corn, and a bit of hay, all components of the taste as well.
A crisp, clean mouthfeel fits the beer well.

They call this one a ‘Baja Lager,’ but Raul isn’t thinking Puerto Nuevo. Been there. Seen the damn dream. Knocked back cold ones eating chips and salsa as a rooster sauntered about. The ocean. I’m talking almost being on the ocean… You can’t beat it. Anyway, this ‘Baja Lager’ doesn’t bring me there. It doesn’t even bring me to a Santa Ana sunrise.
And away we go, my children.

Type: 16-oz. can

Glass: North Park 16-oz. Willi Becher glass
Price: $11.99 for a 4-pack
From: BevMo in La Mesa, Calif.
Purchased: Aug. 6, 2021
Consumed: Feb. 7, 2021
Misc.: No canned on date
Grabbed a 4-pack of this before heading out to golf and put two of them in the bag. Gave them a 4.25 on Untappd, writing on the first one “Great beer. Full review some other time…” Description on Craft Shack read ““Beyond Borders” is our Baja inspired lager that pairs perfectly with a lime, warm day and a fish taco. Salud!” NOTE: I always struggle with Mexican Lagers, whether to call it an American Lager, American Adjunct Lager, American Light Lager or a Vienna Lager. I might add my own style for it.
Poured a medium yellow clear color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Not consistent bubble streams but could see lots of different single bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at different speeds. Good watery lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled corn cereal, grain, grass, pear, peppery spice, light herbal, green leafy vegetable, hints of mint and earthy pilsner malt. Just as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted just as good as the nose. In order got corn cereal, grain, grass, pear, light herbal, green leafy vegetable, peppery spice, hints of mint and light pilsner malt. (Taste - 4.25)
Light body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Clean, crisp finish. (Feel - 4.75)
Just a lovely lager. I will be buying more of this in the future. (Overall - 4.25)
