Weihnachtsbockbier
The rocky tan head emits dried berry, plum, and caramel malt aromas. The medium-full mouthfeel delivers plum and dried fruit flavors first, followed by toffee, caramel, and mild roasty notes. My Turn: David finishes semi-crisp with lingering dried fruit and caramel.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.
My turn to try this My Turn offering. ...Sorry. Anyway, this stuff pours a lovely ruby-sienna topped by a finger of light sandstone foam. The nose comprises mild maple syrup, darker breads, a hint of stonefruit in the background, and a touch of molasses. The taste is a lovely amalgam of dark breads, dark fruits, maple syrup, and a hint of warming booze for effect. Nice. The body is a stolid medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a mostly smooth feel. Overall, a damn fine d-bock, one of the better examples of the style I've had in a while.

Looked forward to this one since I've enjoyed the other "My Turn" series beers. Though I have to admit I tried the first one on a tainted palate and thought I wasn't going to like it, but the next couple were outstanding to style.
12 ounce bottle with no clear dating, but 7.7 ABV clear on the back label.
L -- Clear, dark chestnut with ruby highlights and a dense, light tan head that holds up well.
S -- Rich bread crusts that quickly become overwhelmed by fairly hot alcohol -- not off-putting, but could be daunting. Some light molasses fighting the alcohol.
T -- Sweet, dark bread crusts up front, light character of dark fruits in the middle with a sweetish molasses character, peppery alcohol in the finish -- but the bready character shines through in the aftertaste with some light bitterness that could be from hops or roasted malt.
F -- Mouthfeel is soft and slick to syrupy, but with a dry finish. Medium-robust body.
O -- One outstanding Doppelbock in the German tradition. This could stand up to the best from Bavaria, including Celebrator.

Pours into a dimpled mug placidly, with a finger of creamy khaki colored foam. Color is a really deep and saturated ruby jewel tone, which sure is purty. No lacing though.
Woody, toasty, and malty aroma with hints of molasses and dried dark fruits.
Taste is full of rich maltiness, a bit chewy, though not overly sweet. Light impression of rum-like warmth. Lingering toasty breadiness and light bitterness in the aftertaste. Body is medium to full, pretty good balance here overall. Enjoyed this one.

Bottled 10/28/14:
Pours hazed brown. A thin tan head tops it off, but slowly fades away. A little lacing sticks.
The smell is of toffee, nuts, a hint of rum-like alcohol.
The taste is of toffee, nuts, a hint of cocoa, with mild alcohol and a spicy hop touch in the finish.
It hits full-bodied and is smooth as a lager should be.
This is an enjoyable doppelbock with a nice spicy touch in the finish.

Pours a frothy, tan head that has really nice persistence. Nice, spicy hop aroma. Ruby, burnt umber color. A nice, toasty malt sweetness. Low, spicy bitterness. Finish is smooth, toasted malt and spicy hoppiness.
This is really, really nice. It's a spicier, more complex bock. I really like this.
