Pours beer colour, not pink. No hint of watermelon on the smell either but I do detect canned tomato. The taste however is fruity and watermelonny. I can see the tiny bubbles rising to the top. This would be a really good summertime beer

Look: Pours clear pale yellow with a fluffy white 2 1/2 finger head. After 5 minutes the head has disappated into a thick lacing.
Smell: Grassy and corn cereal. Smells like a typical macro lager.
Taste: Bland at first, and then a watery stewed tomato taste. No watermelon taste to speak of. Lots of corn syrup though.
Feel: Light bodied with a gentle dull carbonation.
I bought this not expecting much. I love watermelon and beer, but I couldn't image how the tastes could work together.....well I have to keep imagining, watermellon is imperceptable. Also watermelons appeal lies in its sweet watery juiciness, and I don't know too many people who think a watery beer sounds appealing. This beer earns a C -

Clear yellow with a good head and cap. Non-descript nose, maybe a little floral? Plain cereal malt body, no real flavour. Good cripsness though. Any watermelon is MIA.

Golden yellow, moderate head to a partial film, some lace. A little lemon on the nose, but no watermelon. Hoppy, bitter very ordinary lager - again with no presence of wwatermelon. Just a lager with watermelon graphics on the can. Industrial in character.

473 mL can from the LCBO; coded B 28 0 (Feb 28 2020, most likely), and served slightly chilled.
Pours clear golden-yellow, giving rise to more than an inch of soapy, foamy white head that recedes at a relatively brisk pace. Several minutes later, it has been reduced to a creamy, quarter-inch cap and generous frothy collar; a few beautiful bands of lacing have also been deposited. I'm detecting pale malts and cereal grain on the nose, as well as an earthy, grassy hay note; as for the watermelon, I guess if you really look for it there's a hint of rind in there.
The fruit itself does come through a bit more on the sip, providing a light hint of juicy sweetness in the background; grainy barley malt sweetness also comes through clearly, thus ensuring that this beer won't be mistaken for, well, not-beer. Maybe a touch of grassiness towards the finish, but it's the pale malts, together with a touch of melon, that last into the aftertaste for a short time. Light in body and a little slick on the tongue, but with moderate carbonation that contributes to its crisp, fairly refreshing mouthfeel.
Final Grade: 3.47, a B-. Granville Island's Watermelon Lager is kind of plain to be honest, though I can offer at least two compliments. First, whatever flavouring they used (if any) doesn't come off as particularly artificial or cloying, so that's always a plus. Secondly, it's not overly sweetened, which is one of my more common complaints with fruit beers. This one actually does taste like a beer - a plain pale lager, sure, but a beer nonetheless - with the watermelon being more of a decoration vs. the whole point of the exercise. I didn't mind this one: I'm sure it'd hit the spot in hot weather, though it's not something I see myself returning to all that often.
