500 ml bottle into tulip glass; Batch 5, 2018 vintage. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/copper/light reddish color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with solid retention, that reduces to a thin ring of lace that lingers. Minimal spotty lacing, with some clinging bubbles on the glass. Aromas of big sweet/sour red/black cherries, fruit skin/pits, almond, lemon, lime, orange, peach, plum, pear, raspberry, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeasty/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, wine barrels, and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big sweet/sour red/black cherries, fruit skin/pits, almond, lemon, lime, orange, peach, plum, pear, raspberry, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang; and light yeast/wine tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour cherries, fruit skin/pits, almond, lemon, lime, orange, peach, plum, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, toasted bread, pepper, light leather/funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, wine barrels, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/sourness, and tangy fruit/wine balance; with no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/sourness and tangy fruit/wine. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is an awesome Flanders red ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, wine barrels, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish, not overly lactic. Awesome balanced juicy/jammy cherries, Brett/bacteria complexity, wine barrel presence/integration, and malts against acidity. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected.

A winner here. While I'm not a huge fan of the style, I really love Yazoo's dedication to toying with their base here in a very simple way. Blood red with a head that quickly fizzes. An aroma of authentic sourdough with a hint of sugar.

Anyone else picking up on the honey? I feel like I'm crazy, but it's VERY present to me. Tartness and black cherries greet me but the honey lingers long after the swig.

Appearance: Pours the color of tawny port, with a fizzy head that quickly fades to a ringlet; spotty lacing all over the tulip glass

Smell: Cherry and red wine grape with oak; some funky acidity develops as the beer warms

Taste: Red wine and cherry acidity forward with oaky barrel tones building underneath; through the middle, there is a growing acetic character married with a touch of funk; tart and fruity, in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: I am a huge fan of the base beer and, while this is good, it comes nowhere near the mastery of the Flanders style that the base beer presents

Thanks, WPZY, for the opportunity

Also received the glassware from John.

Poured into a Yazoo glass a pretty nice cloudy dark reddish color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice quick/fizzy small off-white head, which leaves minimal sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, yeasty, lots of dark red cherries, tart, slight funk. The taste is pretty nice, malty, yeasty, with a nice touch of dark red cherries, nice tartness/sour, nice little funkyness. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, a pretty tasty Flanders Red. Thanks John!

Earthy, some lemon zest, cherry skin, shiny acetic middle that settles back into wood barrel. 4.25
Light, crisp, clean. 4

Does justice to Flanders Red and cherries both. Way nuanced, with a brightness that’s unexpected. Creeping into Cascade levels of quality. 4.5

Bathe released in 2016. Poured into a tulip. A hazy rusty brown color with a frothy but short-lived light tan head. Nice aromas of red wine, oak, vanilla, cinnamon, dark cherries, and a mild funk. The taste is bright tart cherries that got my attention instantly. This was followed by a nice mix of wine, oak, plums, raisins, and raspberries. Slightly sticky finish.
