Going to Austin (and surrounding area) for second time for BBQ. Last time hit 13 BBQ places and it rocked! Hit two bars, both were very good. (One was a bakery and bar with tiger logo - liked it; other can't remember). So, going back again for BBQ (going to hit some of the same and perhaps some new ones). Going to most of the good "famous" places although I heard there's a new "trailer" in Austin - true?

Last time really didn't "do" beer. This time we're definitely going to Jester King. But, in addition to BBQ (what's new and good?) and in addition to Jester King, are there any "must do's?" What's the best bottle shop in town? Other "must go" places? Breweries? Last time never even tried for a bottle shop.

All suggestions most welcome and appreciated. Going this weekend.

    Thanks!!

So, brewery tours. Generally the best breweries to go to around town are Jester King, Hops and Grain, and Austin Beerworks. However, 512, Independence, Adelbert's, and others are also good.

Here are all of the brewery tours:

Check the bottom tab on there to see the brewpubs as well. As far as those go, Pinthouse Pizza, Black Star and Whip In are all solid. I am not as big on ABGB, but other people are.

As far as where breweries are in TX, then this may help:

    Now, on to beer bars.

First, and foremost, just go to Craft Pride. Then Draughthouse. Then Bangers. Hell, after that Pinthouse Pizza is a solid tap list. Wright Bro's Brew and Brew has a great list for a coffee shop as well. This may help you out as well as far as beer bars go to:

On a side note, if you want some great effin beer this weekend, then definitely hit up Bangers on Saturday. This is what will be happening, which is a ridiculous tap list

As far as bottle shops, WhichCraft is your best bet. It is the only true bottle shop in town. There are some other stores (East 1st Grocery and Sunrise Mart) that both have great selections as well, but are not exactly bottle shops but more of convenient stores that have good bottles. Then there are other big box stores or grocery stores like Spec's, Central Market, or Whole Foods. Either way, if you want a bottle shop, just go to WhichCraft.

BBQ? Franklin is obviously the best and most hyped. John Mueller's and LA Barbeque are both solid choices after that. Then, there are just a bunch following that I cannot even keep track of.

And, a quick search also showed all of these that may help:

The trailer you're thinking of is probably Kerlin BBQ. Pretty good place indeed.
