Heading back to the cities today is Castle Danger worth driving 30 mins the wrong direction to check out before we leave? Plan on sticking around until Bent Paddle opens to get a growler

I've been there two times in the past year and it was well worth it. Last fall they had an excellent fresh IPA - probably the best one I had all year. Then in the spring they had an imperial stout aged in red wine barrels and another in bourbon - both were quite tasty.

To be honest though, if they only had their regulars on, I'd be a little bummed about driving up there and would rather sit at Fitgers.

I think Castle Danger is worth the stop, but if I have limited time, I'd spend it in Duluth/Superior. If I'm headed up to Gooseberry Falls or another park up the shore or even Lutsen, it is worth a stop. Not sure if they still have their different barrel aged versions of their George Hunter Stout (wine barrel, whiskey barrel, and maybe a 3rd?)

I remember them have 2-4 offerings on tap that weren't canned/in bottles when I went, so you can try some stuff you normally wouldn't. However, most of their canned stuff hits stores in MPLS and will also be available in Duluth and Superior.

Because I get annoyed by people making new threads for similar convos (ex. heading to TG!/Decorah!, Will be in MSP, where to go!?!,) I pulled some past threads for reference:

I'm probably going to distill all these threads into a "Headed to Duluth - Helpful info thread"

    Enjoy the trip!

Sorry it's difficult to search threads using my phone. We were at gooseberry yesterday and didn't realize there was a brewery nearby until this morning. We check out of the hotel at 11 and have a couple hours to kill until Bent Paddle opens. We really liked fitgers beers a lot so I plan on getting a growler from them

You can't go wrong with an El Nino growler from Fitger's, been a favorite of mine for about 15 yrs now.

I heard good things about the DIPA in stores around here, bought one and it was fantastic. Give it a go!
