In in the Los Angeles area. I can find Pliny on draft easily enough, but I just cannot find it in bottles any more. The places I used to be able to pick it up 4 to 7 years ago don't have it any more.

What happened? Who has it nowadays?

If you don't want to reply in an open thread, PM me. I'm just looking for an occasional bottle to share with friends!

If you aren't at the bottle shops that get in their shipment within 10-30min of it arriving, you aren't getting any bottles. It got so over-hyped it is gone quickly.

So pick a bottle shop that you know use to get it in, call them, ask when their shipment arrives. Or, use the russianriver website to find the shop, then call, and ask when their RR shipment comes in during the week.

    Easy, peasy.

Yeah, there's an entire thread that literally lists out where and when you can find Pliny all across Los Angeles.

Just curious: Those of you who know where to get it (and when), do you believe it has been as readily available as it was just a few short weeks ago? I took 4 bottles with me to Iowa as gifts--I left on 8/13 and got back on 8/23. Since my return, I haven't seen it anywhere. I suppose it could just be bad timing, but considering how often I simply stumbled into it before that I'm wondering if distribution has been slowed very recently. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Distro has been scarce everywhere. And I was told Blind Pig will not be seen in SoCal anymore.
Looks like we'll have to start trading with some NorCal folks to get our RR fix :slight_frown:

ORRRRR just stick to getting it on tap without that pesky one-bottle limit. Is one bottle really worth having to track it down?

Thanks for being so helpful! This has been discussed "hundreds" of times specifically concerning the Los Angeles area and also in the last... let's say year?

You are assuming I didn't search first. I did. I found no answers relevant to my specific question. Hence, the thread.

Sorry, didn't find that. Guess I'll have to check again. Thanks for the tip.

Well, here were the results. No threads about where to actually find PtE in bottles, just people asking questions and very few straight answers. Slight variations on the search terms resulted in no additional threads.

    Oh, well.

Thanks to those offered some data.

Yes. I used to not worry at all about finding it for myself or friends out of town, but it's become increasingly difficult to find. I rarely actively seek it out, because there is always something just as delicious around, but when friends from out of state request some, I've noticed that I can't find it as readily as I once was able to.

You're welcome. It boils down to three things basically:
    1) get lucky
    2) set up an in person trade
    3) "settle" for it on tap

I gave up trying to find bottles, so many other beers to try... Especially when i walk into a bottle shop, see a lone bottle of blind pig, think 'awesome', and then proceed to notice the $15/16 sticker on it (no joke).

Total side note, but I ran into a Stone delivery driver at a shop a couple days ago and the topic of Pliny availability came up (side-side note: he wasn't delivering Pliny at them time, but I did walk out of there with two bottles of Supplication :grinning:).

The shop employee mentioned how they can no longer post to social media and how they are supposed to keep them up front in coolers for all to see and the Stone guy said there are still some places posting to social media and some places keeping them hidden in back. He mentioned one Whole Foods that gets two cases on a regular basis where, according to him, all of them get snapped up by WF employees and never makes it out to the public. One of the beer guys (I'm guessing) buys a whole case for himself. I couldn't resist and had to ask--which one?!? Turns out, the one at Santa Monica & Fairfax. Glad I don't shop at that one, but if that's true, @#$% those guys. Just @#$% 'em.

It's really sad if it's come down to this...setting up a friggin' trade for a beer that's distributed locally. Just sad.
